Hotel worker arrested after Brit tourist, 45, ‘raped on Greek holiday island’
The 45-year-old British tourist was holidaying on the Greek island of Kos when she claims she was attacked by a member of hotel staff in her room, triggering a local manhunt
A British tourist claims she was raped by an employee of the hotel she was staying at in Greece.
The woman, 45, told police on the Greek island of Kos that she was attacked by a 42-year-old male, said to be a Nigerian citizen, in her hotel room at around 7pm on Monday. The woman, who said she had been drinking, further claimed that the employee "took advantage " of her intoxicated state.
Police on the popular resort island launched a manhunt for the suspect before taking him into custody, where he remains. He is set to appear before the Kos District Court prosecutor at an unspecified date.

During the busy summer season, a tourist holidaying on Rhodes accused her masseuse of assaulting her while undergoing a massage at her hotel Kremasti.
Local outlet Proto Thema said she told police she was left feeling "uncomfortable" by the "violating" incident. It's understood she went on to file a lawsuit in relation to the alleged assault.
In July, a Brit teen claimed to have been raped in the sea in front of a packed beach, again on Rhodes, according reports from a local Greek newspaper.
The 16-year-old girl was on holiday with her family on the Greek island when the alleged incident took place, which reportedly took place on the Ialysos beach.
The girl went to the police with her father to report the incident, according to Greek newspaper Dimokratiki. A 15-year-old boy from Belgium was arrested.
It is reported that the pair were staying at the same resort, and the suspect later claimed following their arrest that the contact was consensual.
The suspected has since been brought before the Public Prosecutor on the island, who referred the case to an investigating officer for further legal proceedings.
