'Brilliant' forgotten David Tennant drama fans say is '10/10' quietly added to Netflix
“Frighteningly talented” David Tennant is at the heart of a long forgotten drama that should be Netflix subscribers’ next binge-watch.
Netflix has given fans a gripping drama to deep dive into this weekend that’s been described as “superb” and “unapologetically dramatic”.
Back in 2013, BBC released gripping three-part legal drama The Escape Artist which sees Doctor Who legend David Tennant portray talented barrister Will Burton.
However, when he is able to successfully defend Liam Foyle (Toby Kebbell) who is standing trial for a brutal murder, Will experiences some dire consequences.
Now, fans are able to watch The Escape Artist at the click of a button with the drama released on Netflix on Saturday, September 20.
As well as the Broadchurch and Good Omens star, Tennant is joined by an abundance of other talented actors to bring this mini-series to life.
Starring opposite Tennant as Will’s wife Kate is Scottish actress Ashley Jensen who leads BBC drama Shetland as DI Ruth Calder in seasons eight and nine.
She is also famed for featuring in Extras and After Life with Ricky Gervais, Ugly Betty and Catastrophe.
They are joined by Dept. Q star Kate Dickie who was also behind Lysa Arryn in HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Other cast members include Slow Horses’ Sophie Okonedo and Mr Bates Vs The Post Office actress Monica Dolan, just to name a few.
Fans have been taking to social media for years to sing the praises of The Escape Artist.
Someone commented that it was "brilliantly tense" and labelled the cast as “superb”.
Referring to Tennant, a fan called him “creepy”, as another agreed that his characters were often “unapologetically dramatic, humanly flawed and artistically delivered”.
A third described The Escape Artist as a “must watch” and a fellow user said: “Just watched The Escape Artist for the first time and I have to say, that has to be the most painfully frustrating show I've ever watched - but my god was it good.
“And David Tennant, you really are frighteningly talented.”
