Katherine Ryan makes BAFTAs admission as Michael McIntyre's The Wheel returns

Katherine Ryan took a swipe at the BAFTAs during the show in an exclusive sneak peek

Comedian Katherine Ryan is set to revisit her BAFTAs history as Michael McIntyre's The Wheel makes a triumphant return to our screens this weekend.

The hit game show, hosted by Michael McIntyre, is back on BBC One this Saturday evening, promising a fresh batch of celebrity faces and plenty of excitement in its latest episode.

Scheduled for broadcast on 25 September at 8.20pm, contestants will once again vie for a life-changing cash prize by answering questions posed by a panel of celebrity experts, including the 49 year old host himself.

As they are spun around on a giant wheel, each player must choose one celebrity expert to "shut down" based on who they believe is least likely to answer a question correctly.

With high stakes and the potential for a big win, a single incorrect answer could see them plummeting back down, leaving the game empty-handed.

In a sneak peek of the upcoming episode, contestant Hannah takes on the game alongside celebrity experts Katherine Ryan, Susan Wokoma, Roman Kemp, Layton Williams, Jill Scott, Joe Marler, and comedy duo Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, reports OK!.

When she selects the sitcoms category, Hannah is informed that Susan is the expert on the topic and is then asked to choose who she wants to "shut down" on the subject.

Surveying her panel of guests, she initially considers shutting down Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith. However, Steven retorts: "We've got six BAFTAs", with Reece chiming in: "We've been in comedy for 30 years."

Host Michael McIntyre quips: "Don't be alarmed by Steve, he shouts I've got six BAFTAs all day, even when Deliveroo comes round."

Having a change of heart, Hannah then decides to silence comic Katherine Ryan, prompting host Michael to quip: "Okay, let's shut down another comedian."

Before long, Katherine took aim at the BAFTAs herself.

The comedian remarked: "I've also written a sitcom, it didn't win a BAFTA. It won zero BAFTAS, and I like your strategy Hannah, I'll be shut down."

Michael McIntyre observed: "You're working on a BAFTAs strategy", before continuing: "I really hope it doesn't land on Katherine, I'm worried now."

This comes as Katherine has unfortunately not enjoyed BAFTA glory, despite receiving a nomination in the past.

The celebrity was put forward for her work penning and appearing in the programme 'The Duchess'.

Available on Netflix, The Duchess follows a single parent's existence in London as she attempts to balance her profession, young daughter and her romance with her partner. Running for six episodes, the programme also features Rory Keenan, Katy Byrne and Sophie Fletcher.
