Task 1

The document describes an observation table created to document environmental print in the classroom. It includes examples of environmental print like the days of the week and letters panels. It notes the purpose of these prints is to help students memorize things like the days of the week in Arabic and English and letters and words that start with each letter. The table reflects on potential ways to further develop these prints, such as adding more letters, pictures, and numbers on the panels. It also includes a response about how students of different reading levels interact with the numbers panel, with lower-level students counting small numbers and higher-level students counting and adding larger numbers.

Reflections on Observation Task 1: Environmental in the

Classroom
Read the questions below and choose (1) one to respond to
1. How does environmental print impact students language development, and their
reading and writing abilities?
2. How do students of different reading levels use environmental print?
For the numbers panel low level students use it to count the numbers they know and
try to count the other numbers. Medium level students try to count and acknowledge
the big numbers also they try to use the small numbers in addition. High level
students use the panel to count the numbers above 100 and addition the big
numbers.
3. How does awareness of environmental print impact how students view themselves
as readers?
4. How does a school-home connection (based on environmental print) impact
students' literacy development?
