Chapter 3
METHODS AND PROCEDURES
This Chapter presents the methods and procedures,
sampling technique, the measuring instrument, the data
gathering procedure and the statistical tools that were
used in this study.
Research Design
The study will make use of the descriptive method
since its purpose is to assess the perception of fourth
year Criminology students in the implementation of OPLAN
Tokhang. Descriptive studies are purposive processes of
gathering, analyzing, classifying and tabulating data about
prevailing conditions, practices, processes, trends and
cause-effect relationships and then making adequate and
accurate interpretation about such data with or without the
aid of statistical tool.
Respondents of the Study
The respondents of the study will be randomly selected
from fourth year BS Criminology students enrolled for 1st
Semester, SY 2017-2018 at FLVC comprising 100 respondents.

Data Gathering Tool
The data gathering tool to be used in the study will
be a survey questionnaire checklist to gather the needed
data on the perception of fourth year Criminology students
in the implementation of OPLAN Tokhang.
Part 1 contains the perception on OPLAN Tokhang
relative to program implementation, its effects to the
community and crime prevention;
Part 2 contains the identified gaps in the
implementation of OPLAN Tokhang relative to program
implementation, its effects to the community and crime
prevention; and
Last part contains the measures to be recommended to
cover the identified gaps in the implementation of OPLAN
Tokhang relative to program implementation, its effects to
the community and crime prevention. A Likert Scale will be
34
used in all sections of the questionnaire to determine the
degree of responses of the respondents.
Data Gathering Procedure
The following procedures will be undertaken in
gathering data after the validation of the instrument:
The respondents will submit letter request to the
President of FLVC to be noted by the Dean for the conduct
of the study;
Upon approval, the respondents will hand over
questionnaires to respondents personally;
Collect the answered instrument, sort and tally the
responses;and
Analyze and interpret the data.
Statistical Tool
The data of the questionnaire checklist that deals
with the perception on OPLAN Tokhang, the identified gaps
in the implementation of OPLAN Tokhang and the measures to
be recommended to cover the identified gaps in the
implementation of OPLAN Tokhang relative to program
implementation, its effects to the community and crime
prevention will be analyzed using weighted mean.
Furthermore, t-Test will be used to test the degree of
difference between the assessments of the respondents by
35
year level and as a whole on perception on OPLAN Tokhang
relative to program implementation, its effects to the
community and crime prevention.
