Subject: Report on the Case Study “Facebook”
Ma’am,
Hereby is the report attached with the title “Facebook”. This report observes the case study and
brings about possible scenarios of alternate solutions feasible to the provided circumstances. It
gives a complete understanding of the problem and its different dimensions along with coverage
of possibilities on criteria of evaluation of options.
This report has been prepared taking into consideration the concepts and techniques that we have
learnt to apply in our lectures on case studies.

Executive Summary
Shaw is a manager at a leading consulting company, where she had been working for more than
four years now. She is in a dilemma that whether to recommend Parson or Jones for hiring for
the post of a senior analyst for her project team. Both of them are equally qualified, whereas
before submitting the name to the HR heads, she googles about both of them, she finds out that
Parson is into marijuana on Facebook which stops her to forward his name to HR heads. She
didn’t find anything such as that about Jones. Also, she knows that Parson has good leadership
skills and great communication skills and he is known for his tireless energy. He is also involved
in non-profit works and has won no. of community service awards. When it comes to Jones she
knows that he is one of the effective project managers. She has to take this critical decision since
in past years high turnover is seen in the company because of personal issues, which is not good
for the company as well as wastage of time, money and energy.

Situation Analysis
Shaw, manager at a leading consulting firm. She used to work there as an intern but now four
years down the line she is on fast track to making partners. The company where is she working is
very special place to work according to her. The company needs a special type of consultants to
work there as they had to be high committed to the work environment with high energy.
Turnover was seen in the past years because of individuals’ personal issues. Many project delays
were seen as well in the company.

Shaw is confused that to whom she should recommend. Parson or jones?

• Ask for more time to HR.
• Hire Parson.

Recommendation
Hire Rick Parson since he is a good team player, he is committed to his work environment very
well, good leadership & communication skills and he is also known for his tireless energy.
Implementation Plan
Shaw should talk to Parson personally and tell him to remove all his inappropriate pictures from
social medias, since soon he’ll be an employee of the company and such pictures will put up bad
impression about him as well as of the company to other parties.
Contingency Plan
If the above plan doesn’t work, then she should hire Deborah Jones because even he is equally
qualified, and he is listed into work related web sites as an effective project manager.
