COURSE DESCRIPTION AND OVERVIEW

Design fundamentals involving basic creative design exercises with emphases on space, form and mass.

In its most simple form, architecture is the design and organization of spaces, and in its most common form, it is the
design of buildings, their interiors and surrounding spaces.

COURSE GOALS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Creation of architectural solutions by applying knowledge in history, theory, planning, building technology and
utilities, structural concepts, and professional practice.
2. Use of concepts and principles from specialized fields and allied disciplines into various architectural problems.
3. Interpretation and application of relevant laws, codes, charters and standards of architecture and built environment.
4. Application of research methods to address architectural problems.
5. Use of various information and communication technology (ICT) media for architectural solutions, presentation, and
techniques in design and construction.
6. Attainment of entrepreneurial and business acumen relevant to architectural practice.
7. Preparation of contract documents, technical reports, and other legal documents used in architectural practice
adhering to applicable laws, standards, and regulations.
8. Involvement in the management of construction works and building administration.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Lecture
1. Personal Computer/Desktop Computer with Microsoft Office tools applications.
2. Smartphones with all necessary and recommended apps.

COURSE POLICIES AND EXPECTATIONS

Lecture Class Policies (On-Campus Class/Face-to-Face)


1. Wearing of face mask and face shield at all times. Bring your own alcohol, soap, ball pen, paper and
other materials. Strictly no borrowing of things.
2. Stay home if not unwell.
3. Attendance in the class signifies readiness to participate in class discussions and activities.
4. Student is responsible for his/her absence.
5. Student with five (5) consecutive absences shall be automatically drop from the class roll. No
excuses.
6. Requirements must be submitted Only within the designated due date. No Late works but leniency
shall be observed.
7. NO CELLPHONES OR ELECTRONIC DEVICES AT ANY TIME except when allowed by the
Instructor.
8. Others (agreed upon by the class)

Lecture Class Policies (Online Class/Remote Teaching)


1. Wear a decent casual dress during web conference.
2. No foul words during online discussions.
3. Observe punctuality and courtesy

4. Private conversations during web conferencing are not allowed.


5. Respect shall be observed by both parties.

Studio (Laboratory) Class Policies (On-Campus Class)


1. For No drawing tools and materials is No admission to the class, no attendance, no performance of
activity.
2. No playing loud and irritating music.
3. No food or drinks allowed in the studio (laboratory).
4. Each student is responsible on their own plate, copying of work of other student will not be tolerated.
5. Requirements must be submitted Only within the designated due date. No Late works but leniency
shall be observed.
6. Cleaning of classroom shall be observed before class dismissal.

1. A Messenger Group Chat will be created for the subject specifically for queries.
2. A closed Facebook group will be created for posting of announcements, syllabus, assignments,
rubrics, directions, studio manuals, videos or links of instructional materials.
