Service Tool Introduction

Service Tool Introduction

Below tools are for Acer Tablet A500 after service. Please
see the description in next slides.

- Diagnostic tool

- OS upgrade tool (SD upgrade)

- Serial Number update tool

- UUID read tool & UUID table maintenance


Diagnostic Tool

Purpose :
For Tablet A500 hardware issue troubleshooting.

Object :
For local service center’s technician testing in Level 1 and 2 repair.

Test coverage :
Touch Panel, Display, Buttons, Speaker, MIC, Camera, SD and Vibrator
functions.

SOP :
Please see the introduction in SOP “A500 Diagnostic tool SOP_v1.1.pdf”
OS Upgrade Tool (SD Upgrade)

Purpose :
For Tablet A500 OS firmware upgrade or re-flash.

Object :
For local service center’s technician upgrade/re-flash OS firmware.

Support product :
For any mass production A500 device only. (B sample device which
built-in 512MB RAM is not supported)

SOP :

Serial Number Update Tool

Purpose :
For Tablet A500 M/B(mainboard)’s serial number update.
In A500 model, factory wrote Acer 22 codes serial number in M/B’s
eMMC memory. Once service replace M/B to new one, technician
MUST update M/B’s serial number consist with device original number.

Object :
For local service center’s technician using in Level 2 repair when M/B
changes.

Support product :
For any mass production A500 device.

UUID Read Tool & UUID Table Maintenance
Purpose :
UUID is an unique number (IMEI 15 digit numbers and Bluetooth MAC
address 12 codes combination) built-in Tablet A500 M/B eMMC memory.
This number is for cloud server identifies if device should be upgraded
firmware by FOTA, once Acer switch on region/country site upgrade.
If service replace M/B, technician MUST record new and old UUID with
serial number in table then Headquarter can update it to database
continually.

Object :
For local service center’s technician using in Level 2 repair when M/B
changes.

Support product :
For any mass production A500 device.
