SIBELIUS: Keyboard Shortcuts

GENERAL RHYTHM
Esc cancels note entry or text entry, stops playback 2 on numeric keypad semi-quaver

Single-click select something (note, measure, text etc) 3 on numeric keypad quaver

Double-click on a staff selects the whole line of music 4 on numeric keypad crotchet

Triple-click on a staff selects a staff for the whole score 5 on numeric keypad minim

Enter (Return) respells enharmonically (if a note is selected), edits text (if text is selected), or forces 6 on numeric keypad semi-breve

a system break (if a bar-line is selected)


INSTRUMENTS, DYNAMICS & ARTICULATION
Ctrl + Shift + B add new bar
I select instrument
Ctrl + B add new bar at end
Alt (Option)+ 1, 2, 3, 4 select or change voices 1, 2, 3 and 4
R repeat something selected
Ctrl + E , then Ctrl + [mf] add dynamics / expression, then enter dynamics / expression text
Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V copy, paste
H (+ Shift) crescendo (diminuendo)
Ctrl + A select everything
/ , *, - (on numeric keypad) accent, staccato, tenuto
PLAYBACK S + selected notes add slurs to all those notes
P playback from selected note
METRE & TEMPO
O stop playback
T add time signature
spacebar start / Stop playback
Ctrl + Alt + T add tempo text
PITCHES L produces a series of line options, including rit., rall., accel.., etc.
Q select clef

A the note A (Shift + A to add an A to an existing selected note) KEYS & CHORDS
B the note B (Shift + B to add a B to an existing selected note) K select key signature

C the note C (Shift + C to add a C to an existing selected note), etc… 1 on main qwerty keyboard add unison to selected note

↑ (or ↓) move pitch up (or down) one note 2 on main qwerty keyboard add second above selected note

Ctrl + ↑ (or ↓) move pitch up (or down) an octave 3 on main qwerty keyboard add third above selected note, etc…

←/→ moves to the previous / next note Shift + 2 on main qwerty keyboard add second below selected note

7 on numeric keypad adds a natural to a selected note Shift + 3 on main qwerty keyboard add third below selected note

8 on numeric keypad adds a sharp to a selected note Shift + 4 on main qwerty keyboard add fourth below selected note keyboard, etc…

9 on numeric keypad adds a flat to a selected note Shift + K chord diagram or guitar frame
