1. After reading the module about self-esteem, I’ve been struck with the idea that self-
esteem plays a crucial role on making ourselves happy. Yes, I agree with this concept
because self-confidence equates happiness; if an individual has a high level of
confidence, he/she can express herself/himself freely without any hesitations and
whatever the circumstances will be. However, if a person has a low self-confidence,
he/she is in doubt of herself/himself if he/she is capable of something. Therefore, we can
say that part of being happy is to understand that you are able, and you possessed skills
and abilities that make you valued as a human-being.
2. Self-confidence is indeed a continuous process. We may feel confident about
something we are passionate about one day and lose it on the other day. And yes, I’ve
been through with this, there were days that I feel I’m not confident enough and I think I
lack potentials to do certain things. Especially, when I think that I’m not good at it such as
in sports. I’m not a sporty type so that’s why during our Physical Education class, I’m
worried if I can pass the course. On the other hand, I decided to overcome my anxiety
and with it, I removed my negative mentality that I’m not capable to involved or performed
in any sports event and I replaced it with the thought that I can do it and by the grace of
God, I made it.
3. If there are things within my self-control that help me boost my self-esteem, it would be
giving myself a time to think logically when feelings are intense and recognizing that my
past negative experiences do not dictate my future. Sometimes, I am overwhelmed with
my emotions, and I forgot to use my thinking instead I just dwell on how I feel. So, for
now, I will be pausing for a while and think of how I should respond logically upon the
situation. I will also keep my head up for my future instead of embracing the pain from my
past. And of course, I will start doing this not tomorrow, not on the other day but today. In
this way, I can carry myself as a confident individual and it will help me become a better
version of myself.
