Release Notes
The Foundation release notes provide brief, high-level descriptions of changes,
enhancements, notes, and cautions as applicable to various releases of Foundation software
and to the use of the software with specific hardware platforms. Where applicable, the
description includes a solution or workaround
Note: Portable Foundation supports macOS 113 "BigSur" and prior versions.
Foundation Release 5.2
New Features and Enhancements
This release includes the following enhancements:
Intel PMEM AD Mode support is now available on Foundation. This will be enabled in the
future AOS release. (ENG-423574]
Resolved Issues
The following issues are resolved in this release:
During one click upgrade for ESXi hypervisor and using Foundation 5.1, 5:11 results in ESX
one click VIB updates rolling back due to missing "driver" sym links. [ENG-452589]
Foundation Platform update now restarts foundation services. (ENG-435312]
phoenix/reset_passwd confirmation prompt is misleading. [ENG-401923]
Foundation fails and returns an error; "didn't match the one computed on the server! Try
reuploading and recheck checksum with supplier” even when the correct MDS is provided.

Copy driver issue for NVMe boot disks is now fixed, (ENG-453844)
Even after a manual upgrade, Foundation Platform is inventoried as not installed. [ENG-

Known Issues
This release includes the following known issue:
Add node with Imaging and Satadom breakfix might fail at imaging as the Foundation port
8000 is not open for the target node in the cluster. [ENG-437833]
The CVM and the hypervisor can go unreachable for 5 minutes while performing the NIC
MACRO test or with few network port toggles. [ENG-462410]
Upgrade Information
Upgrade from the Graphical User Interface
You can upgrade CVM Foundation from version 312 or later to the current version by
using the Foundation Java applet or the Prism web console or the Foundation GUI, For
information about upgrading Foundation by using the Java applet, see " upgrade CVM
Foundation by Using the Foundation Java Applet” in the "Prepare Factory-Imaged
Nodes for Foundation" chapter of the Field Installation Guide.
For information about upgrading Foundation by using the Prism web console, see

Foundation in the Prism Web Console Guide.
To update using Foundation GUI, click the version link in Foundation GUI. You can
perform the following updates:
Upgrade CVM or standalone Foundation to a higher version.
Update just the foundation-platforms submodule. This enables Foundation to support
the latest hardware models or components qualified after the release of installed
Foundation version.To upgrade the Foundation app, download a higher version of app from Nutanix portal
and perform a new installation. The new installation stops any running Foundation
operation and updates the older version to the higher version. If you have initiated
Foundation with the older app, ensure that it is complete before doing anew
installation of the higher version.
Upgrade from the Command-Line Interface
‘To upgrade Foundation from version 31 or later to the current version, by using the
command line, do the following
Download the Foundation upgrade bundle (foundation- ver's i on#tar.gz) from the
support portal to the /home/nutanix/ directory.
Change your working directory to. /home/nutanix/.
Upgrade Foundation.
