System information
SharpVue is a standalone high definition optical inspection system.
The SharpVue system has the following key features: -
Autofocus Camera with 30x Optical Zoom. Autofocus feature can easily be turned on
and off. You also have the ability to fine tune your focus with Autofocus feature turned
off.
System has a built in cross hair which can be activated with the enclosed remote
Built in LED lighting arranged to give you shadow free illumination
Save images and videos, perform measurements, annotate, share and document
your work with the enclosed easy to use software (PC required)
Digital zoom, which can be turned on or off
Remote for easy control.
A monitor with a HMI or DVI port is required. We recommend upwards of 22 inches.

Inspection Tables
SharpVue Tiltable Table
For perfect angling of the object you are working on under our SharpVue, try our stable and
maneuverable tilting table. The table plate is covered with an ESD safe material that
prevents static damage to the object you are working on and keeps it in place. Diameter: 220
mm. Height: 50 mm
SharpVue XY table
Our XY table is designed for easy control of the magnified object. This XY table is small and
easy to move. The table plate is covered with an ESD safe material that prevents static
damage to the object you are working on. Horizontal Movement:190.mm Vertical Movement
235 mm Table Dimension: 420x410 mm. Weight=5kg.
Image Capture Box
With the SharpVue Image Capture box you can save your pictures directly to an USB stick or
SD card. A PC is not required.

Assembly
Place the inspection system on a sturdy surface free from any vibrations. If you are using our
XY table slide the foot of the inspection unit into the slot of the XY table. If you are using our
tilt table place the table on the included ring. Connect the monitor cable from the monitor to
the inspection unit. (HDMI/DVI). Connect the power cable from power supply to a power
outlet and connect the DC cable from the power supply to power connector located in the
back of the inspection unit.
If you are planning to use a PC with the Inspection system, then connect your PC with the
USB cable (USB mini end connects to Inspection Unit and the USB end to the computer).
Install the software onto your PC from the enclosed USB flash drive.
You can now start the system by pressing the button at the top of the camera unit. You can
also turn the LED lamp on/off with the button on the back of the SharpVue.
Using the Remote control
Z+ Zoom in
Z - Zoom out
Increase brightness.
Decrease brightness
MODE. A short press and autofocus can be turned off / on. When autofocus is off, &
can be used to adjust focus
Press MODE for 5 seconds and a menu will appear with more choices.
Press OK to change magnification to wide view and show an artificial laser cross. Next press OK
again and the system will return to the previous magnification
Press FUNC to toggle between color and greyscale.
Pairing the remote to the SharpVue
If you need to change battery in the remote you need to pair the remote to the system. Hold
the remote on the back of the SharpVue while the power is on then press the OK button on
the remote for 5 seconds. The light on the remote will start flashing red – the remote is
paired.
SharpVue Menu System
Keep the MODE button pressed to get in to the menu system. To navigate use Z+, Z-
,, .To confirm a choice or function press OK. To leave the menu press MODE
again.
Turning “On Screen Magnification” display
To pair the system with the screen you are using:
Press MODE button on the remote for a few seconds access the menu, then select:-
Service→ Camera→ Camera resolution→ Choose AUTO DETECT
To turn on/off the on screen magnification display:
Press MODE button on the remote for a few seconds to access the menu, then
select:-
User → Zoom OSD Function→ Choose ON

Safety information
Never connect the product to power if it has been exposed to water, rain or
other liquids.
Place the power cord in such a way that no pinching occurs.
If the product is moved from cold to warm, condensation may occur. Wait
about 30 minutes before using the product.
When placing the product choose a stable table with at least 45 cm depth.
If no normal function can be set after troubleshooting, turn power off and
contact your local supplier.

Save: Left click to save live picture as a jpg, file. Files are saved under folder \\my
pictures\sharpvue with date, time and index.
Right click on this button will start and save a video. Start video right click once end
video right click once again.
Freeze: Left click to freeze a live image, press again to go back to live mode
Brightness: Increase or decrease the brightness of the live image.
AF ON/OFF: Autofocus On or Off. When auto focus is off it is possible to adjust manually focus with
the, this can be useful if the object underneath the camera has different height.
Cross: Crosshair, vertical and horizontal.
IRCut: Change to greyscale, helps camera if used with IR light.
Stop: Turns of digital Zoom and max =optical zoom
Draw /Measure: Allows for drawing and measurement functions
Text : Inset text maximum 84 characters
Mark Tool: Sets marks on the image useful for soldering applications; size follows magnification.
Horizontal: Measure in horizontally in a straight line
Vertical: Measure in vertically in a straight line
Free Hand: Draw in free hand mode
Circle: Draw circle
Rectangle: Draw rectangle
Angled lines: Measure in non-horizontal or vertical mode.

How to Measure
Calibrate system prior to performing a measurement for accurate results
Put your object under the camera.
Zoom to preferable magnification with the software.
Press the draw button. Press LB (Left button) on your mouse and make the start point, then go to
your next measuring point and press LB on your mouse. Value will be displayed on the screen.
If you change your magnification ( zoom in or out) the system will need to be calibrated again to
obtain an accurate result
How Calibrate
For accurate measurements the system will need to be calibrated. To do so place a ruler under the
lens. Right click on the Draw/Measure icon. A message box will appear to confirm calibration in
10mm or 1 mm increments. Click between 1mm or 10 mm, a yellow line will appear and drag the line
to the match 1mm or 10mm on your ruler.
You can now clear the screen, press draw mode twice and your calibration will still be active.
Saving your calibrations
If you are planning to repeat measurements at a set magnification than you save you calibrations to
be used later
Save setting, choose a file name and a folder to save it. Your calibration and magnifying values will be
saved. (Press the ok button with mouse and don’t use the enter key).
Saving your images
Right click on your mouse also has the functions to save your images. You choose the name and the
place to store the image. (Images will be saved as bmp).
Changing line colors
Right click and choose colors, if you wish to change the color of the lines, the active color will be
indicated with (Active).
If a PC combined with monitor is used the algorithm for magnification and measurement will be
effected.
Aven has done testing and verified that with the following screens sizes.
20” ( 1600x900) , 22” (1920x1080) 24”(1920x1080),24”(1920x1080),24”(1920x1200),22”(1680x1050)
measurements were accurate within 1 or 2% without calibrations
Lens: First time the Software is started, it will have a default value for the lens that is set to have a +3
lens.
If one uses the +3 lens, nothing need to be done.
If the +4 lens is used (with tilt table) do as follows. Start the program, press the drawing mode
button, right click and choose lens, change to lens +4. Done.
Next time the software is started it will remember this setting.
If lens it changed time to time, user needs to change the lens setting in software.
SAVE VIDEO
A 3part encoder needs to be installed onto the PC. Available on the installation under folder
\encoder. Run the setup .
Then go to Encode settings, ( program Xvid)
You should also verify that there is a folder under \\my pictures with the name \Focus.
