1. What is an anchor?

A news anchor is someone who presents the news on local or national television.
News anchors are typically seen on-camera behind a desk, delivering breaking
news and information about current events to the public.

2. What are the roles and responsibilities of an anchor?

The news anchors will work closely with reporters, gathering information,
broadcasting newscasts throughout the day, and interviewing guests. Finally, be
able to keep up with current events and present news stories to audiences in a
way that is informative, interesting, and unbiased.

3. Discuss the ff. roles. Elaborate their roles and responsibilities in the industry.
Toastmaster

The main duty of the Toastmaster is to act as genial host and conduct the entire
program, including introducing participants and distributing awards. Participants
in the program should be introduced in a way that piques the audience's interest
and motivates them to listen.

Toastmasters isn't only for improving your public speaking or communication


skills. By giving speeches and working through a learning path in the Pathways
learning experience, you will learn how to structure your presentation and
incorporate tone and body language to truly engage with your audience.

The main role of a toastmaster is to act as a stage manager and time keeper. He
will ensure that the event runs the time and to the agreed plan.
It is his responsibility to announce the arriving guest to the host at the start of a
formal event. He would call the guest to be seated, would announce grace , would
introduce the speeches and the toast and generally act as an event coordinator
with the event staff, photographers, the entertainers, and the techno crew.
Basically it is his responsibility to give an introduction which sets the tone of the
meeting.

Toastmasters makes sures that in any certain event everything runs the time and
according to what is planned . It is the major coordinator of the event proper,
keeps everything and everyone in harmony. Being a toastmaster is a great
privileged it is your chance to become a more effective communicator, can
improve grammar and vocabulary and exercising time management skills
Moderator

are in charge of facilitating, reviewing, and guiding a discussion or debate and its
associated interactions. A standard or guideline is used by moderators to ensure
that all content shared during a discussion or debate is appropriate and follows
the organization's rules.

The responsibilities as a moderator include providing discussion topics,


encouraging participants to share, removing irrelevant or inappropriate content,
answering questions, defining group boundaries and rules, and updating the
platform.

A moderator facilitates, reviews, and guides a discussion or debate, as well as any


related interactions, to ensure that all shared content is appropriate and adheres
to community rules. Moderators can be found in a variety of industries and
contexts, both online and at events. Social media moderators, community
moderators, discussion/debate moderators, and health care moderators are all in
charge of fostering positive and safe interaction. Your responsibilities as a
moderator include providing discussion topics, encouraging participants to share,
removing irrelevant or inappropriate content, answering questions, defining
group boundaries and rules, and updating the platform. You also have the
authority to decide what information is acceptable or unacceptable.
Reactor

Is defined as a return of information about a result or the return portion of a


process. Examples of this are judges in a competition, giving a reaction after a
performance.

Reaction allows us to say or show what we see or feel towards a person.


A reactor is somewhat we call someone who gives feedbacks

Reacting on a post or work in any social media platforms has become a new form
of communication as it allows people to appreciate and express their ideas.
Before you react you should know your responsibility as a reactor.
Check your motive, Respect the ideas and opinions of others, Know your emotion,

Reactor as a Motivator - it motivates people as they appreciate someone in their


outputs and the more reactions a person could achieve the more motivated a
person could be to work more harder.

Reactor as a Corrector - This reactor pinpoints that a person should continue


doing and the wrong things a person should stop.

Reactor as a Coach/Teacher - This reactor suggests things that could improve the
outputs of any person which could lead them to improve themselves and become
successful in the future.
Presider

To hold the position of authority, acts as a chairperson of a president.


To possess or exercise authority or control.
Examples: Priest, Judge, President.

● Communicates to the executive office if there are any problems with


the room, including technology issues.
● Ensures that the session begins and ends on time.
● Briefly introduces the session.
● Moderates the open discussion at the end of the presentations.
● Passes out to collect session/ feedbacks evaluation forms.

The responsibility of a Presider is to be a timekeeper to ensure that the


session moves in a timely manner and that all presenters are given equal
time to present their materials.

Through the presider or chairperson,it helps the people who didn't pay
attention because someone is leading them that makes the meeting
productive and the members respect the other members.
Lecturer

A lecturer is someone who teaches at a university or college . For the


purpose of the study , a lecturer included personnel whose primary
assignment is instruction ,research or public service.

Ex: Professors, Associate Professors, Assisting Professors, Instructors

Lecturer is to impart knowledge to the learners. In imparting knowledge to


the learners the lecturers must acquire good communication skills, have
overcome stage fright and assess the learners in giving significance in
connecting the lessons to a real world scenario.

● Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials , workshops and seminars


● Developing curricular and course material that can be used across a
number of platforms
● Collaborating with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching
methods and expand knowledge base.
● Conducting research and writing papers, proposals , journal articles
and books.
● Attending and participating in meetings, conferences and other events
in and outside the institution.
● Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution.
● Providing support to students and other colleagues.
