Tyler Knott Gregson

I began to chase the light and I was comprised with the exoteric people motivated by
this man’s wheedling ways; the way he blandishes love and life with his works. I fell in love with
his amaranthine masterpieces. Oh! How I love his new ways of expressing his idée fixes! Who is
this man? Who is Tyler Knott Gregson?

His name suffused social media platforms as he spread his works and wonders to the
world. Tyler Knott Gregson is a poet, an author and a professional photographer based in
Helena, Montana. He was born on the 6th day of July, year 1981. This 38-year old social media
heartthrob studied sociology and criminology at the University of Montana and he also worked
as a freelance writer for various companies. He began blogging on his own in 2009 which was
one of the stepping stones he had in order to suffuse his name all over the world. He says he
has written poetry since being in middle school and for me it is very evident that for that
longest time he was able to develop himself to become the poet that he is right now.

I stopped reading books and making my own pieces for approximately two years before
I started going to college because I found reading and writing as triggers for my mental health
to deteriorate due to some of their Cimmerian or tenebrific contents. Not knowing college, I
thought I would never come back to loving books and making my own literary pieces. Not until
our literature classes. I came across so many books in my life already because my aunt used to
give us books from the States every time she comes home here in the Philippines but rereading
them again and discovering new ones suddenly became a diversion or an enjoyable pastime for
me. I started to be interested in Tyler Knott Gregson’s works when someone bought one of his
books for me which is entitled Wildly into the Dark: Typewriter Poems and the Rattlings of a
Curious Mind.

Wildly into the Dark made me want to advocate life and love. It contains so many poems
that he wrote on scraps of papers and he had photographed them artistically and included the
photographs in the book as pages. He also included some of his beautiful shots of nature and
other objects as a background of his poems. For so many times, I have already encountered so
many different types and forms of poems but his was far more distinct. His poems did not seem
like a poem because most of them had no rhymes at all. They were written freely as he pleased
and as his heart’s content. He took poetry into another level. His techniques in writing a poem
will really have everyone, especially the millennial, as its “market”.

I followed Gregson’s instagram account and I have seen that him being a poet, an
author, and a photographer does not end with his books. Even his other social media accounts
contained his bonny creations. Every single day, he posts one or more astonishing poetry of his
– either on scraps of papers with his weird signature on it or pages from his books that are
commendable and drop-dead marvelous. He writes and posts a “Daily Haiku on Love” and a raw
poem from his “Typewriter Series” every day currently. Not to mention about his recent
wedding with another author and poet Sarah Linden; no wonder his masterpieces contained so
much life and so much love. You will really feel the affection that he has for Sarah which is
oozing from each and every verse that he writes for her. Gregson’s main incentive or spur for
writing is to express that poetry is not dead and is something to be valued. His chefs d’oeuvre
revolved around certain themes like love, hope, sadness, and wanderlust which served as an
aroma for the “market” to continuously sniff and patronize them.

Tyler Knott Gregson is also an award-winning author. Some of his works are “All the
Words are Yours” which was a collection of haikus on love, “North Pole Ninjas: Mission:
Christmas!” on which he was a co-author of his wife Sarah Linden, the book that I have which is
the “Wildly into the Dark: Typewriter Poems and the Rattlings of a Curious Mind”, and the
“Chasers of the Light”. The book “Chasers of the Light” is his biggest break. The book is part of
the “Typewriter Series” which he started to write on 2012 when he found an old typewriter in a
Helena Antique Store and typed out poems spontaneously. The book also became a national
bestseller with more than 120,000 copies in print. The one behind the compilation of some of
his poems from the Typewriter Series to a whole book (Chasers of the Light) in 2014 was
Perigee, a division of Penguin Random House which is a publishing company. According to the
Wall Street Journal, the collection of poetry was a top 10 bestseller of non-fiction within its
second week of publication. Through Chasers of the Light, he got to donate $2 per pre-order of
the book to the “To Write Love on Her Arms” (TWLOHA) which was an organization to prevent
suicide. As I have mentioned, one of the factors why he was included with the bestseller
authors and was able to sell that many books was because of his online followers. The author
has ranked a huge social media following, consisting of 328,000 followers on Tumblr and now
361,000 followers on Instagram and I am one of them. These followers are rapidly increasing
each and every day. Some of his fellow celebrities have been plugging his name and have been
mentioning him and his works to their own followers. One of these fellow celebrities of him was
Christine Perri which is a singer/songwriter and was the one who sang Jar of Hearts which was a
hit during early 2000s. He has a new book which was originally published on March 19, 2019
which is the Miracle in the Mundane that also has remarkable poems. The book helps the
readers to uncover their creativity, to find inspiration and to live a life that is “more”.

Tyler Knott Gregson is everywhere in the internet. He has his own website which
everyone can visit (https://tylerknott.com). It can be opened through the Tumblr app and it
contains most of his works, mostly about the Typewriter Series. He is now in Typewriter Series
#2765. His official Instagram account and Twitter account is both @TylerKnott and he also has a
Facebook account which everyone can check up on (facebook.com/TylerKnottGregson). He is
also in a blogging site which is the www.goodreads.com which is quite similar to his own
website. He also has a Pinterest account which has so many pictures taken by him and taken for
him. It contains his travels, some of his Typewriter Series photographs, their wedding pictures,
and some parts of his books. He also has a website for his wedding photography business which
is chasersofthelight.com and/or treehousephotography.org.

This artist has made me fall in love with him falling in love with poetry, with
photography, with life, and with love. Every time I read his works, I am put into a whirlpool of
emotions; he brings me to his sedulous mind which cures my addlepated heart. He was able to
evince his ocean deep thoughts on which I want to drown in. I will continue to be a chaser of
the light. I will keep running, walking and crawling until I get close to it. I will continue to live
because of his works. I hope that he continues with his Typewriter Series and I hope that he
makes more books in the future.
