2. INTRODUCTION
Covid 19 pandemic has made the whole world suffer and left us in a state of shock. It has led
to a dramatic loss of human life worldwide. This disease was originated in the city of Wuhan,
china and emerged as a great challenge to the public health sector globally the COVID-19 is a
highly infectious disease or illness caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2
(SARS-CoV-2) due to its severity and fieriness covid 19 pandemics is the Since the dawn of
human civilization, Covid 19 is one of the a greater global health crisis that has occurred in the
. (Schulten, 2020) stated that everything from world economies to social customs was shattered
from the beginning of novel Covid.
To restrain the spread of Corona virus government of all the continents agreed for a complete
lockdown including Social distancing, self-isolation and travel restrictions.
Since March 2020, the central and state governments have used a state of emergency protocol
to prevent people from leaving their homes, resulting in mass quarantines and stay-at-home
orders around the world. According to (H.H. Khachfe, 2020) people's unmitigated
commitment to adhere to strict precautionary measures such as social distancing, following
medically prescribed quarantine procedures, and embracing hygiene and sanitation can help in
getting the control over Covid 19.
This 2019 novel coronavirus disease quarantine time (COVID-19) made education system
collapse form tertiary to elementary level. Lockdown stipulate near total closer of many
universities schools and colleges to stop the spread of COVID 19 which resulted obtruding
over 1.2 billion children’s out of classrooms in 186 countries due to which the learning across
the country is hugely affected. The closure of schools and colleges affected the Teachers and
families correspondingly it unveil a plethora of social and economic problems
Student debt, food insecurity, digital learning, homelessness, childcare, healthcare, and housing
are just a few of the social and economic repercussions that have impacted the population
during Covid 19.
Modern problems required modern solutions UNESCO recommended the use of distant
learning programs and open educational platforms that can be used by the universities, colleges
and school to reach the students remotely.
The shift in pedagogy from traditional methods to remote teaching learning outside of the
classroom to zoom, From attending seminars to attending webinars and personal to virtual is
a is a fallout of Covid 19. Before the Covid 19 crisis, e learning, distance education, and remote
2
learning were all considered as a part of non-formal education. However, it appears that remote
learning will ultimately replace formal education if the Covid situation does not improve.
The use of remote learning platforms will help in limiting the disruption of education and
encourage the colleges to scramble and find new creative solutions for teaching students online
both in- person or hybrid format.
This pandemic has compelled us to relay on the digital platforms for the virtual transfer of
knowledge. Distant learning came out as a best solution during this crisis.
Online learning environment that take place over Internet is also referred as e; learning. Online
educators create a supportive environment to compensate the lack of physical presence in
virtual classroom and ensures the learning of students Online educators has to stem up with
distinct ingenious ideas to make students comfortable and encouraging them to participate in
the online class.
Some of the most popular online communication platforms that are changing the direction and
destination of the entire education system around the world in post-COVID-19 situations are,
Classwize, Docebo, Google Classroom, Ted-Ed ,Bakpax, Pronto, Skillshare, ,Edmodo,
Coursera, Parlay, , Feedback Fruits, Udemy, WizIQ, Flipgrid, Codeacademy, Gynzy, Adobe
Captivate, Seesaw, Edx, GoGuardian, Elucidat, Kami, Pluralsight, G Suite, Otus, Articulate
360, Floop, Future Learn, Hapara, Shift, Lectora Inspire, Kialo Edu, Buncee, WeVideo
Start.me, LanSchool and many more.
The term "de-schooling culture" (Illich, 1971) comes to mind as the current situation attempts
to keep our children away from traditional formal education and allow them to pursue their
interests.
As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, all teachers and students are forced to accept the digital
academic experience as their only option for online learning, as mentioned correctly by
(Lederman, 2020). Teachers can incorporate children's digital skills into educational
opportunities to help them succeed in future endeavours through digital intelligence, which is
especially important during this pandemic when children are entirely reliant on the internet.
(Lewin) 3 step process discussed in his change management theory of unfreezing, changing
and defreezing well explain the current covid 19 scenario.
Unfreezing of traditional teaching-learning occurred due to unexpected conditions of Covid
19. Mostly as consequence of the anticipated complexities in pursuing the traditional way, the
transition to online teaching was undertaken. As of current times, taking regular classes in the
midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, is merely impossible. As a result, online teaching mode has
3
Without even a dispute, it has become a necessity that has brought an organisation and a person
together in an unfreeze phase. Hence providing opportunity and motivation to the stake holders
in investing into remote learning platforms. Furthermore, during the COVID-19 affected era,
online teaching mode has provides a sense of psychological safety among the learning
community. The second step comprises of changing process in which there are two ways one
is to outsource the online platform or create its own which supplement the transitional phase
of online teaching mode. The final step is Refreezing this is an essential step in incorporating
technology into our learning environment, since it encourages everyone to teach students in
ways that are somewhat comfortable for them and fulfil the needs of technology.
Online education is a flexile didactic transmission technology that is comprised of any type of
learning through the internet. Online education helps in reaching or communicating to the
whole world. The teachers have the freedom to reach the students to deliver education by
residing anywhere in the world and at their own convenience and time. Nowadays degrees in
online education or distance learning are increasing on a rapid scale. Schools and colleges are
shifting from classroom education to online education. Students who are opting for online
approach of education are considering the recognized and authorized college or institution.
Online education is a feasible and enthusiastic method for delivery of education globally and
it comes with 24*7program as it provides students with great resilience. With the help of
technology and presence of internet, students are able to grasp knowledge from anyplace and
anytime rather than going and attending traditional classroom. The survey has been conducted
time to time and the results were that students engage themselves as adequately in an online
classroom as they do in traditional classroom.
The methods for online education are same as on campus programs. Even considering, the
online education is related to on campus programs, it can be delivered in a number of ways.
Online education can be provided applying these methods or a combination of them:
100 percent E-learning: Distance education are acquired from your own home and not
necessary to be physically present or any kind of visits to college university or campus.
Amalgam education: This type of education can be acquired through combination of online
and on campus education.
4
MOOC’s: MOOC’s are Massive Open Online Courses, are done in lecture form to online
classrooms with no limit of maximum number of people.
• Asynchronous online education -This type of education does not happen in real time.
The time frame is provided to students with contents and assignments for completion
of course work and exams. Discussion boards, blogs and wikis are used for
communication due to which there are no live meetings. This type of education is
suitable for students with hectic schedule or time constraints.
• Synchronous online education - In this form the students and teachers interact through
webinars in form of text, video and audio chat. This type of education enables the
participation of students in real time.
• Hybrid online education- Hybrid courses also known as integrated courses of both
online interactions and physical interaction. In this course, there are PC-based
interaction in between the instructor and students and face to face interactions or
meetings are held in the respective semester.

• Time and money saver - On campus degrees consume more cost than online degrees. It
is a dream come true for those people who cannot afford to spend a money on college
education. And it saves time as you can study at your own schedule.
• Gaining knowledge at own pace - Each individual has a different speed of
understanding not everyone is the Albert Einstein and it is a major disadvantage of
traditional education that if everyone taught together some are unable to understand and
they are left behind. Online education eradicates this problem. All the course material
are provided in the starting and students can study by taking their own time. Students
can conduct meetings or live chats to clear their doubts in that specific subject by
consulting the professional.
• Acceptance of online degrees- If the college or institution does not have the
accreditation from the Distance Education Council (DEC) OF India then there is no
6
value of the students in the most of the companies of India. Most of the companies are
engaging their employees to opt for online education.
Due to the evolution of cloud computing online education market in India is highly impacted.
For saving huge amount of data, content and information on a single platform cloud technology
is utilized by E-learning companies. Big data and learning analytics are also major aspects of
e- learning. With the help of this technology companies can measure or analyse people’s
failure, success and preferences so as to achieve intelligence and improving design of the
course.to rise growth in online education market there is needed an awareness of analytics. All
this has helped Indian education sector to recover from the loss caused due to lockdown and
gave them a chance to fight back in such a tough times. The process of learning has not stopped
but found an another medium to reach the students and impart knowledge in them and helping
them in creating a new and a better future for themselves.

3. LITERATURE REVIEW
The question which arises in the mind after taking all the factors into consideration is What
will be the Future of learning?
To answer this question it is very important to understand the perception of the students
learning online. The pre-emptive and unscheduled shift to online learning may cause poor user
experience and subsequently affecting the sustainable growth. The sudden shift of the classes
from physical to virtual has caused a lots of problems including the insufficient bandwidth, No
training of the software that is used for remote learning and the little preparation of school and
colleges al this sums up and affect the students learning outcome. The Vice president of
Tencent Education (Tao, 2020) stated
“I believe that the integration of information technology in education will be further accelerated
and that online education will eventually become an integral component of school education,“.
The remote learning is moving into long term as there are no clear instructions regarding the
opening of schools and colleges due to which many experts are forced to think about the
mental, emotional and academic impacts of the shift. According to developmental
psychologist and professor in the University of California, San Diego’s (Bintliff, 2020)
commented regarding the mismatch of reality and expectation can really affect the students and
their teachings.
In accordance with many phycological surveys conducted by (Alamuddin), an associate
director of research and evaluation at the consulting firm Ithaka S+R, It is found out that
students are feeling isolated many of students were talking about being in person with their
teachers and colleagues and having spontaneous organic conversation end relationship.
For the classes that are held online It is critical for teachers to provide time and space for
students to develop relationships that will help them break out of their isolation.
Isolation is one of the many problems the students are facing students are struggling to find
spaces in their home to work peacefully without getting any disturbance they also are dealing
with health issues as long exposers of laptops and mobiles are causing many problems related
to eyes and the radiation also causes headache.
8
So if remote learning is the new trend in education then it is important to take preventive
measures by both the students as well as the teachers. the proper training of the teachers and
students regarding the online platforms they are using is a must.
This pandemic has clearly wreaked havoc on an education system. (Harari, 2018), in his book
explains how traditional academic skills and cognitive memorization are still prioritised in
schools over skills like critical thinking and adaptability. Critical thinking and adaptability are
more important for success in the future. If treated cautiously, the shift to online learning may
act as a catalyst for the development of a new, more efficient method of student education.
While some are concerned that the rushed nature of the online transition has inhibited the goal
of changing the traditional ways of education Others choose to adopt e-learning into their "new
normal" after first-hand experience with its advantages.
There was a study conducted where they found a remarkable expansion of distance learning in
Asia in the past three decades. They studied that there is an excessive demand by people for
quality and liability in e-learning. The study focus on the national quality assurance systems
for online education for the high level education in Asia and keeping in mind the development
of quality of education and for policy makers they should offer better directions while
developing and explaining quality assurance systems for online education. (Insung Jung, 2011).
They examined the problems of modern educational approaches taking in consideration of
more traditional open education and e-learning environments. The study focused on the
development of a university that shifts their criterion from traditional national university to a
viable global education system that focus on quality of teaching, learning, processing and
validation of knowledge to real-life problems in complex situations. (Rajasingham, 2011).
The study was conducted that was focused on the usage of online social media as a learning
environment for the high school students. The growth pattern of online education in both
Canada and India. In this, it was realized that opportunities at the university level have grown
gigantically. Advanced practices in online education are putting an end to traditional
educational systems, pressurizing institutions to rethink their existing policies and procedures.
(Srivastav, 2002).

3.3. Disseminating knowledge
Major global events are often a stepping stone for rapid innovation, as evidenced by the rise of
e learning platform during this pandemic. This pandemic has highlighted the importance of
spreading knowledge across borders, industries, and all aspects of society. Online learning
technology does have a part to play here, it is dependent on all of us to better utilize it. (Sherry,
2020) conducted a study about various online modes of education and in his study he also
explained that in India there is a great need for high quality education e-learning mode is on a
high growth. The growth of management education through online education was also
examined during his study.
• High likelihood of interference -As compared to face to face education there are high
chances of distortion or disturbance in online education because there are no classmates
to remind the assignments. It can take a long time to finish the course unless you fully
dedicate yourself into the course.
• Fraud online course- There are many unofficial authorities which offer unauthorized
courses and those courses are fake and maybe fraud and created to earn money only. No
jobs will be offered based on these courses. So before spending money on an online
course, check the accreditation from the assigned authorities.
• Unable to access courses that requires practical/hands-on - Courses like engineering
cannot be done online because it requires labs and workshops. And degrees like MBA
require exploration and overseas communication etc which is a vital aspect of the course
and it cannot be done online. (Ward, 2010) in this study it was found that teachers are
opposing to offer online education as it can have an adverse effect on quality of learning,
instruction and participant interaction. The article shows analysis of the huge impact on
instruction and learning on instructors.
10
3.5. Some major factors affecting the students learning process in remote
learning classes.
• Lack of Digital Skills in both student and teacher- Most of the teachers in private
as well as public sectors lack the appropriate knowledge to handle the remote learning
platform. In India students and even teachers are not having account in the platform
that allows distant learning and many of them has never used a system before. It makes
difficult for students also as they have to depend on the PDF and Video lecture with no
proper explanation Setting interaction is more dynamic in a physical classroom, and
course instructors can more easily stimulate input from students, but in online classes,
professors must find more innovative ways to keep the conversation interesting.
• High Quality and proper Internet accessibility- This new education model may
probably take some time to implement in a country like India, where access to the
internet is appallingly low. The Internet arises as perhaps the major obstacles of e-
education and remote learning. Over the past two decades, the government has made a
concerted effort to expand internet access in every industry. However, India must
continue to face the internet challenge. In report by Niti aayog for "Strategy for New
India@75,"it has been identified that Internet quality and reliability are still a problem
as there are 5500 towns in the country that are not covered by a mobile network. It's
especially difficult to hold classes for students who have gone home during the crises.
Students from urban families are more likely to have internet access, while students
from rural families are more likely to have an internet connection. Only 28% of pupils
from rural families are likely to have access to the internet at home. With 2G internet,
college institutions are having difficulty reaching out to students the students in
Kashmir face a double whammy of slower internet as Kashmir does not have access to
4G internet making it difficult for them to keep up with their peers in other states. From
dealing with basic issues like internet connectivity and India's highly unreliable power
supply to more complex matters like e-tests and e-exams Students have been put under
a lot of pressure. The students in their final year are the most affected. They haven't
finished the course yet, so placement preparation and applications to universities for
higher education have come to a halt.
11
• Device availability-On issues related to online teaching, the University of Hyderabad
conducted an in-house poll with about 2,500 students. Regardless of the fact that
90percent of the total of respondents have a smartphone, about a quarter of them that
can only access online classes rarely or not at all. Among the concerns raised about
online education, 40% mentioned unreliable connectivity as a major deterrent, while
30% cited the expense of data. Uncertain electricity supply was cited as a major concern
by 10% of respondents. Internet access will not always imply that a household has a
Wi-Fi access at home with a constant connection; in fact, less than half of all households
with internet access own a computing device. While some students and teachers have
access to cell phones, only a small percentage of students and teachers have access to
computers and laptops. According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India,
mobile phones are used by about 78 percent of India's 1.3 billion people, but only about
57 percent in rural areas. According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India,
mobile phones are used by about 78 percent of India's 1.3 billion people, but only about
57 percent in rural areas. 68 percent of students are in higher grades they have access
to a smartphone, so they are more comfortable in having online classes.
• Struggle faced by parents- Remote learning is a new concept for school going students
they are having trouble in understanding the online platforms and e assignment. Parents
along with them face the similar issue. Many of the students still not received the study
materials and they are finding it difficult to keep up with virtual classroom activities
without textbooks. According to the parents students are not getting any knowledge by
E – learning and they're concerned that with so many school days lost, students won't
have enough time to prepare for examinations. For the students belonging to age group
of 4 to 12 Mobile phones are rare and they have little knowledge of how to use them
Teachers typically communicate with students through their parents' phones, which
involves parents in the process and consumes their time. The majority of parents who
work from home struggle to balance their job and their children's education.
• Privacy concerns- Zoom, a teleconference software that is simple and quick to use,
has seen exponential growth in the last two months. However, the convenience has been
accompanied by strict scrutiny along with a few security flaws. People who are
concerned about their privacy are finding it difficult to use such software. the current
situation was unexpected. However, we must always be prepared for such incidents.
12
The issue is indeed not a few weeks of online instruction and examinations. The real
question is why, in this digital age, our educational system is so behind.
According to a study of the literature, the majority of studies are conducted to determine
students' perceptions and attitudes toward e-learning, and studies on students' perceptions of e-
learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
13
4. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This research is both quantitative and descriptive in nature. A modified questionnaire was made
to survey the students and teachers perception towards remote learning. Data from 200 students
both university and elementary level was collected to investigate students perceptions of the
Remote teaching-learning and changes caused due to the sudden shift in the method to teaching
affecting the learning of the students of education institutions. The scope of this research is
limited to northern part of India Students who are voluntarily using e-learning tools for their
daily course during COVID -19 lockdown are the survey's respondents.
1. To examine that online education is the optimum solution for delivering education during
pandemic COVID-19 outbreak.
Relevant statistical methods and techniques have been used to validate and analyse the data
obtained from the survey respondents. SPSS (version 23) and Excel is used for data analysis.
This part of the study includes a precise and systematic presentation of the data obtained from
the survey about the Experience of remote learning during Covid 19 / Shift of education pattern
from classroom mode to online and its future scope.

19outbreak?
Mean population, standard deviation and standard error can be pinpointed from the above table.
The intention of finding the mean value in this study is to provide an idea about the central
tendency of a variable. A total of 200 observations is taken for each variable. To get the idea
regarding depression of the values from its mean value standard deviations for each variable
are calculated.
The following hypotheses should test the empirical findings of the packaging elements hence
to prove the alternative hypothesis
During this pandemic Remote learning helped in the transmission of knowledge but for many
it is not an effective learning method though looking to the current situation we might have to
continue with remote learning as the scenario of covid is again getting worst and there is a
rumour of second Lockdown is going on. To impart knowledge the digital platform still need
many reforms to convert remote learning into a good learning experience

A big “t” (> +2.0 or < -2.0), with a small p-value (< 0.05) implies the rejection of the null
hypothesis under the condition of significant mean furthermore the big p-value with small t
indicate insignificance of the mean. It can be deduced from the table a big "t"(t< -.2.0) and a
small p-value "p" hence proving our alternate hypothesis.
H0: Remote learning is effective as traditional method of learning.

8. CONCLUSIONS
From a social, health, political, educational, and labour context, the pandemic caused by the
COVID-19 disease is causing mayhem on communities and due to which there is a paradigm
shift the effect of which are very severe and unimaginable. Due to this sudden and unexpected
condition various educational administrations have had to shift their educational systems from
face-to-face to online teaching at a rapid pace thus to prevent the collapse of the educational
system and to stabilize the interrupted learning process. This major precautionary step was very
important to stop the spread of corona virus and for education as well.
As a result, the reforms that are taking place are having a significant impact on the teaching
profession, and instructors must adjust to new situation. The teachers don't have this significant
training of the remove platforms which makes them to face a hard time while using online
teaching platforms. On other hand the teachers should not rely on the traditional methods of
teaching they have to start working on students creativity, emotional growth as well as positive
emotions in order to facilitate online learning process. There should be a change in the
evaluation process as previous evaluation process are based on traditional method of learning
where a teacher was physically present and was able to impart knowledge which is not possible
through online learning.
For sure online education has come up as a solution in these tough times and help the
development of academic curriculum.
Participants had both positive and negative experiences when receiving online education such
as Flexibility in class participation time and self-paced study, cost-effectiveness of online
classes, electronic testing availability, well-designed course layout and ease of Internet access
but there are some negative factors as well such as Delay in receiving input from the instructor;
lack of technical help from the instructor; lack of self-regulation and self-motivation; feeling
of isolation; monotonous instructional methods; and poorly-designed course material were all
factors that led to students' negative experiences.
As there is no improvement in the current provide situation and the rumours regarding the
second wave are getting stronger there may be a chance of another lockdown so for the future
learning student has to rely on the remote platforms for their further studies. There is a need
for better and improvised remote platforms which virtual reality experience to student to fill
the gap of traditional learning and virtual learning the evaluation system should also be changed
an improvised by taking factors such as creativity emotional intelligence, logical reasoning and
IQ into account.
