1. Why is innovative management important and how have Walmart’s


leaders demonstrated innovation throughout the company’s history?
Walmart help people to save money, promise live better for everyone. He
operated 8,400 retails unit 15 countries. With innovative, he gained highest
profit in retails business.
Sam Walton, founder of newspaper delivery business, get higher sales
volumes but sales price lower than his competitors. The company boast to give
theirs customer benefits of shopping at one convenient location, which is to save
money, reduced the cost of living.
2. Which management perspectives of the past century influenced Sam
Walton and Walmart? Explain.
Sam Walton used classical perspective, that used for large complex
organization to coordinate and control. Walton used this method to manage
work and organization efficiency, and improve productivity. This classical
perspective contained three subfields: scientific management, bureaucratic
organizations, and administrative principle. Walton learn a technique called “
management by walking around. We can see that Walton coordinating
organization by approached management science perspective.
3. What social, political, and economic forces are shaping the practice of
management at Walmart in the twenty-first century?
3.1 Social forces
Walmart being infused by Scott and fellow executives with fresh
initiatives that cast the company in a greener. It means Walmart are going green
and adopting environmentally friendly business strategy. Thus, going green will
benefit the company avoid environmental laws, more social concern.
3.2 Political forces
Federal state, and local government regulations and political activities
influence company behaviour. Walmart is fraught with legal and political
contests that threaten Walmart’s brand. This affect the company profitability,
cause undermine the cost-cutting formula which the company is built.
3.3 Economic forces
Economic represent the general economic condition of the country or
region.
Uncertain economic force Walmart’s company make change or more
innovative and flexible to respond the internal and external environment. He
know the consumer purchasing power is become low because of the economic
problem. These forces the Walmart provided low prices product selling in
retailers to the customer but still can make profit for organization.
