Muster Location
Ensure that the muster location is adequate to
accommodate all personnel in the premises.

Ensure there are no building/road work activities that


could prevent a controlled muster.

Escape Ways
There are always at least two means of escape from
any part of the building, both along with corridors and
24 staircases are not obstructed in any way.

Signs
Location of signs should comply with the drawings
attached to the fire certificate or meet similar
25 expectations. these should cover:

Fire fighting locations and appliance types (clearly


a marked showing type and correct use)
First aid locations

Floor Wardens
A suitable team of persons trained in escape

Doors
Check all internal and external fire doors to ensure that

d Integrity of beading around viewing panels
e Handles are in good order
Fire Alarms
31 Fire alarms are tested on a weekly basis.
Fire alarms are audible at all parts of the occupied

Slips, Trips & Falls

Floor finishes shall not be damaged, loose or

protruding (e.g. worn carpet).

Applied substances shall not cause trips, slips or falls.

Cables etc. laid on the floor and connected to

equipment shall not constitute a trip/snag hazard.

Storage
There are no heavy objects stored in an unsafe
34 manner that could injure a personnel or create a
hazard or blocks exit.
Storage cabinets, filing cabinets and bookcases are
installed in such a manner that they remain stable and
secured.
Boxes and Personal files are being storage around workstations

and common spaces in all floors

First Aid Boxes
A first aid box shall be provided at each and every
38 office location.
Where occupants in a given premises exceed 50
personnel an additional box should be provided.

First Aiders
A suitable person trained in First Aid shall be available
40 at every office location.

41 Hygiene awareness signs posted in Toilets.


42 Adequate trash bin provided in toilets.
Janitor doing proper cleaning with recommended
detergents/chemicals at least every two hours.

Suitable means of cleaning (Soap) shall be provided
