Nokia AirScale Outdoor Subrack (AMOB)
AMOB description.
Nokia Product Code: 473952A
The Nokia AirScale Subrack AMOB is a system module subrack intended for outdoor use. The
subrack provides protection against the outdoor environment and foreign objects for the system
module and cables (IP55). AMOB has a height of 8U and fits into a standard 19 in. rack.
The AMOB subrack includes the AirScale System Module backplane.
The subrack supports stack, wall, pole, and rack installation. It is possible to install AMOB inside the
Flexi Cabinet for Outdoor (FCOA). AMOB can be stacked on top of Flexi casing, but Flexi casing
stacking on top of AMOB is not supported.
The AMOB cooling system is based on a heat exchanger (HEX) with an external air fan unit, as well
as an internal air circulation fan unit. A clearance of at least 40 mm in the front and back must be
provided for cooling. If AMOB is mounted horizontally, the direction of the external airflow for the
HEX is back-to-front. In vertical installations, the airflow direction is front-to-back. The change in the
airflow direction can be achieved by changing the orientation of the fans in the HEX fan tray
assembly.
The following clearances must be provided for the AMOB subrack:
600 mm in the front for module installation.
40 mm in the back for air flow. To allow for rear maintenance, a clearance of at least 200 mm is
needed.
In a vertical installation: 200 mm on top of and 300 mm below the subrack for cabling.
In a horizontal installation: 300 mm on the left side and 300 mm on the right side for cabling.
AMOB incorporates a heater that allows for a cold start from -40°C to -5°C in around two hours.
Optionally, a second heater can be installed. The second heater provides the possibility of reaching
-5°C in around one hour.
Excluding the plug-in modules, the subrack weighs 23 kg (50.7 lb). The volume of AMOB is 104.5 l.

AMOB internal Power Distribution Unit (PDU)
The PDU combines power distribution and control functions related to the fans, heaters, and the
temperature sensor. The PDU supports a maximum output of 42 A. Overvoltage protection is
provided only for the DC input.
