Ramp Test Quick Setup Guide
1. From the Dyno Main Screen (Dial Screen), either press
“F2”, or choose Test - Ramp\Step Test
2. At the Ramp Test Screen, click on the “Setup” button.
The following window appears:

3. There are 5 simple settings to set, first choose a Ramp
Rate (Acceleration Rate), anywhere between 1 and
30kph/sec can be selected. In normal practice, we
recommend the more power the vehicle has, the
faster Rate Ramp, but some example Ramp Rates are
as follows:
a. Low powered 4 cyl cars 5kph/sec
b. Low powered 6 Cyl cars 7kph/sec
c. V8 N/A powered cars, Turbo 4Cyl/6Cyl cars with
low to moderate power 10kph/sec
d. V8 N/A modified (Head/Cam etc), Turbo 4Cyl/6Cyl
with moderate to high power 15kph/sec
e. V8 Turbo/Blown, Turbo 4Cyl/6Cyl with extreme
power levels 20kph/sec
4. Now choose a “Pre-Start Speed”, this is where the
Vehicle will be “Loaded”, just use common sense here,
basically any car can be drive in 4th gear at around 60-
70kph, so choose a Pre-Start speed that suits the car.
Then choose a “Start Speed”, this is where the Data
will start on the graph, the Start Speed has to be at
least 5kph above the Pre Start speed.
5. An End Speed is chosen next, for an unknown vehicle,
choose an End Speed well beyond the expected end
point, ie something like 220kph. The End of the Ramp
Test can ended by 3 fashions, the Vehicle getting to
the End Speed, or by the User tapping the space bar,
or by the user defining an RPM end point. Once 1
Ramp Test has been performed, it is then very easy to
adjust the End Speed back to a point where the

Power curve has just started to drop, this will then
become the new End Speed, and makes it very easy
for back to back tests where exact Start and End
Speeds are wanted.
6. The “Finish Speed” has to the same as either the Pre-
Start or Start Speed, and this is simply where the
Ramp Test is finished as far as the Dyno Software is
concerned. The Dyno will have complete control over
the dyno load from the Pre-Start to Finish Speed,
ensuring there is chance of a user over revving an
engine.
To perform a Ramp Test, once the Ramp Test has been
setup from the above procedure, select an appropriate
Power Scale for the vehicle, do this by just clicking the
arrows on the Left axis of the Ramp Screen.
The user just then taps the Space Bar on the Keyboard
once, a Green Pre-Start windows appears, apply Full
Throttle, tap the Space again and the Vehicle will now
Ramp all the way to the End Speed if desired. If the Power
Curve “falls over” well before the selected End Speed, just
tap the Space bar again, lift off the Accelerator, and the
dyno will ramp down to Finish Speed, the test is now
complete.
If the Test is needed to be saved, click the “Save Run”
button, edit any details on the Test Header and click “Save”.
Normally now at this point, the user presses “F2” again and
this opens the “Analyse” screen where the Data can be
further Analysed.
