Website Development and Maintenance


Position: Website Development and Maintenance

Department: Technical and Design

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 35 hours per week ( 9 – 5.00)

Reports to: John Davies (Head of Technical and Design)

Summary:
This role has some website development however is more about maintaining existing websites and legacy
code. Including adding new features as and when required along with fixing and repairing of websites. Our
web developers work closely with the Web Development Project Manager as they manage workload.

Responsibilities:
● Carrying our ad-hoc fixes/amendments to existing projects and legacy code.
● Fulfilling design requests such as banners, newsletter templates, etc… where skills are applicable to
the individual.
● Analyse websites to discover ways of improving or extending functionality.
● Attending internal/client meetings and creating web development proposals where required.
● Carry out SEO duties where required.
● Carrying out additional ad-hoc duties as required by the business.

Skills and Experience:


● 1+ Years’ experience in a design agency.
● Ability to work in a team environment and support colleagues
● Ability to work with other internal departments including effective communication with various
internal departments and individuals
● Ability to share knowledge/best practices
● Ability to develop own skill set
● Manage own workload to ensure individual, team and company targets are achieved

Technical Skills Required:
● *MUST* Have an in-depth knowledge of Magento with proven experience in it
● *MUST* Have an in-depth knowledge of WordPress with proven experience in it
● *MUST* Have an in-depth knowledge of MVC Frameworks (preferably Zend) with proven experience
in them.
● *MUST* have some experience of Doctrine.
● *MUST* Have an in-depth Knowledge of PHP, MySQL, CSS, HTML5 (W3C), JavaScript and jQuery.
● Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Version Control
● *MUST* have a knowledge of API integration
● Commercial Awareness and ability to work to tight deadlines, (experience in a design agency)
● Knowledge of Linux, server administration and Command Line shell scripting(preferred)
● Able to use image editing software such as Photoshop for slicing and manipulation of website designs
(essential).
