1) To install this dataset in your SQL server,
you must have db_owner rights.
2) only use ‘sa’ or equivalent accounts
while attempting backup and restore of
the database file.
STEP-BY-STEP
INSTALLATION
Please follow the step-by-step plan to
install this in your system smoothly:
STEP 1 )
Go to the git repository and download the
database backup file ( Mastering_SQL.bak )
present in the below git repository:
https://github.com/dataceps/Mastering_
SQL_Joins
STEP 2 )
Open SQL Server Management studio (SSMS) in
your machine.
STEP 3 )
Connect to the database engine in SQL
Server Management Studio.
STEP 4 )
Right click on the database node and click
on the “Restore Database” node
STEP 5 )
Select the source option as “Device”
STEP 6 )
Click on the ellipsis and then a popup will
appear.
STEP 7 )
Click on “Add” button and locate the
backup file ( Mastering_SQL.bak )on your
system
After locating the backup file, press on OK
button.
STEP 8 )
Click on “Add” button and locate the
backup file ( Mastering_SQL.bak )on your
system
STEP 9 )
Finally click on the OK button and restore
this dataset backup in your SQL server.
The database name will appear as
Mastering SQL in your SQL Server.
After the successful loading of the dataset
in your SQL server, please re-visit the book
mastering SQL Joins and continue your

STEP-BY-STEP
INSTALLATION
Please follow the step-by-step plan to
install this in your system smoothly:
STEP 1 )
Go to the git repository and download the
database backup file ( Mastering_SQL.bak )
present in the below git repository:

STEP 2 )
Open Azure data studio on your MAC.
STEP 3 )
Click on the "New Connection" button in
the Azure Data Studio toolbar or select
"New Connection" from the "Connections"
menu.
STEP 4)
Open Azure data studio on your MAC.
STEP 5)
Click the Restore button on the Server
Dashboard
STEP 6)
Select Backup file from the first dropdown
menu. Then click the ellipsis (...) to open the file
explorer.
STEP 7)
Navigate to the Mastering_SQL.bak file, select
it, then click OK.
( In the below screenshot example the .bak file selected is a different
one. However, you need to navigate and select the
Mastering_SQL.bak file )
STEP 8)
Click Restore to initiate the installation of
dataset.
STEP 9)
Watch the Task History bar for the restore to
complete. Should only take a minute or two.
STEP 9)
Once the restore is complete, click the Servers
icon at the top left of Azure Data Studio's
interface. Your new database should appear in
the list of databases (you might need to refresh
the list by right-clicking on Databases and
selecting Refresh).
After the successful loading of the dataset
in your SQL server, please re-visit the book
mastering SQL Joins and continue your
learning.
