1. PURPOSE
METHOD STATEMENT FOR STRUCTURAL STEEL &
CLADDING INSTALLATION

The purpose of this method statement is to describe the methodology to ensure required
quality while installation of structural steel & sandwich panel and also to ensure that the
concerned person is familiarized with the sequences of the activities, documents &
drawings involved, maintaining and recording HSE documents as per main contractor and
client specification & requirement to meet the contractual obligation.

2. SCOPE

This Method Statement covers methodology for structural steel & sandwich panel
installation works to be executed by Al Fara’a Steel Structures.

5. RESPONSIBILITY / SUPERVISION.

1.1. PROJECT MANAGER


 Is Responsible for the overall project.
 Ensuring knowledge of and compliance with company policies, procedures, and the client /Main
Contractor’s requirements.
 Provide the force and resources necessary for project compliance with agreed Quality and safety
procedures and standards.
 Ensuring that all workmen have access to and use approved work procedures, are properly
trained and know how to install the materials in line with the quality requirements.
 Ensuring the Job is executed as per the contract specification, approved procedures and approved
workshop drawings.
 To co-ordinate and co-operate with consultant and internal dept. for smooth completion of JOB.
 Ensuring that recommendations and comments arising from Quality inspection are rectified by
the agreed target date.
 Liaising with the main contractor to comply with the client requirements.
 Ensuring traceable documents are available for all materials to indicate its as per the
requirements.
 Providing competent supervision and implementing solutions if the work is stopped due to H&S
concerns.
 Ensuring H&S Reviews are held for the project.
 Taking action to correct discrepancies reported as a result of audits, surveys or inspections.

1.2. SITE ENGINEER.


 Constantly monitoring the project quality and performance. Provide the force and resources
necessary for project compliance with approved quality requirements from the client.
 Ensuring that method statements incorporate risk assessments are in place prior to the execution
of specific tasks.
 Organizing day to day activities in the site for material installation, alignment & Inspection
including quality and safety.
 Reporting to the PM and liaising with the main contractors to execute the Job in agreed target
date.
 Monitoring and supervising the task in regards to all aspects of Quality, health & safety
practices.

1.3. QA/QC ENGINEER.


 Ensuring knowledge of and compliance with company policies, procedures and Quality and
Safety standards.
 MIR & WIR raising for arrived materials and erected materials
 Ensuring the job is executed in compliance with the Project specifications & approved drawings.
 Close liaising with PM and site engineer to ensure the erection is in line with the approved ITP.
 Supporting the project execution plan and process to ensure high quality product.
 Ensuring the materials is erected in line with requirements from the client.
 Highlighting the concern to the PM for any deviation from project specifications and approved
drawings.

5.4 HSE Officer


 Ensure that a copy of the Company Health and Safety Policy is issued to all Project Managers and
appropriate departments.
 Ensure that the Health & Safety Plan is being implemented, monitored and reviewed.
 Arrange any necessary first aid equipment to sites or work places.
 Carry out regular inspection of sites and work places to determine whether work is being carried out in
accordance with Company Policy, Method Statement’s and the relevant statutory provisions. Provide an
Inspection Report to site management and send a copy of the report to the Division Manager and HSE

Manager.
 Identifying potential hazards on new contracts before the commencement of work, proposing the safety
organization and emergency precautions required.
 Providing information and advising project management on safety and health requirements and
promoting a regular exchange of information on current safety performance record.

5.5 Employees.

 Supporting the Project Quality and HSE Plan.

 Preventing H & S being circumvented.

 Identifying and reporting any defects in the materials.

 Understanding the work method to ensure erection in line with the requirement.

 Reporting of any H&S issue to safety officer or PM.

 Not to misuse and tamper with any items or plants

6. PLANT AND EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENT

1.4. GENERAL
 50 T Mobile crane, 1 unit
 Lifting slings, belts and other accessories
 Scaffolding, Sufficient as per safety practice – by main contractor
1.5. POWER
 3 phase / single phase normal power supply for using the power tools for installation purpose
and for lighting.

1.6. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT


 All workers should wear Safety shoes, Helmet and coverall at all-time inside construction
site.
 While gas cutting, welding and other activities according to the requirements particular

worker should wear Gloves, goggles, mask and other PPE as per safety policy.

1.7. MATERIAL HANDLING AND STORAGE.


 All material should store above ground level with adequate wood packing in order to avoid
direct contact with soil.
 All lifting gears and tools & tackles should have valid certificate. And checked and certified
by safety officer in site before commencing work.
 The lifting supervisor should ensure unauthorized movement underneath suspended loads.
 All suspended loads should guide by soft rope tied to load to avoid swing.
 Certified Riggers will employed for the erection works

7. PROCEDURE

1.8. METHOD OF STRUCTURAL STEEL ERECTION

 Erection works shall be carried out as per the project specs & approved shop
drawing & erection manual.
 Main contractor has to fix cast in anchor bolts in position as per the approved shop
drawing and same will verified by Al Fara’a.
 Before casting the anchor bolts, inspection request has to raise for verify the
locations and should sign of by consultant engineer.
 Once concrete attain the required strength, Steel erection will be started as per
below sequence.
 Required scafolding platform should erect below the structural steel beams level
leaving 600mm clear gap between steel section bottom and scafolding should be in
step as per skylight slope.
 Centre crown area flat level platform has to be build ful length and width of crown
 Before starting work above the scafolding it should be inspected by certified
scaffolding inspector and green tag should signed and tagged to scafolding.
 Exclusion Zone shall be established in the area beneath to protect others from the risk of
falling tools, equipment’s and material.
 Crown portion will assembled above the platform at level as mentioned in
Architecural and Structural drawing

 The end main beams will erect to position, bolted on cast in anchor bolts and
connected to crown piece with connection bolts.
 Steel structure level will establish in all four corners at anchor bolt and at crown.
 Base plate anchor bolts will snug tight and required packing shims will provide
below base plate, also connection bolts at crown will snug tighten.
 The remaing main beams will be erected as per above procedure and structure will
aligned & connection bolts will snug thigthen.
 Then secondary beams will be erected in between main beams and connection bolts
will snug tightened.
 After completing the steel erection structure will surveyed for levels and members
will alligned for strightness, after alignment connection bolts will tightened to
required torqueand anchor bolts will tigthen by providing proper shims.
 Bolts shall be with proper washers to provide true bearing in accordance with
project specification.
 Carry out bolt tightening test (torque test)
 Carry out the final touch up wherever it required
 Carry out the final inspection as per project specification.
 All final positioning and level including plumbing, Dimensional tolerance &
Alignment will checked after full Tightening of bolts done in accordance with
project specification.
 After final inspection and approval, structure will hand over for grouting and
glazzing work.
