1. What is Cloud Computing?

The term “cloud computing” refers to the process of storing and accessing data over
the internet. However, it does not save any data on your computer’s hard drive and
only allows you to retrieve data from a remote server.

2. What is Azure Resource Manager (ARM)?

Azure Resource Manager (ARM) is a deployment model in Azure that enables you to
manage resources as a group, known as a resource group. ARM allows you to deploy,
update, and delete resources in a coordinated and predictable manner.

3. What is a virtual network in Azure and what are its main components?
A virtual network in Azure is a representation of a network in the cloud. Its main
components include subnets, network security groups, routes, and virtual network
gateways. A virtual network enables you to create a secure and isolated network
environment in the cloud to host your virtual machines and other resources.

4. What is an Azure storage account?

An Azure storage account is a cloud-based storage solution that provides scalable and
durable storage for various types of data, such as blobs, tables, queues, and files.

5. How to secure data in Azure storage accounts?

You can secure data in Azure storage accounts by using encryption, access control,
and monitoring. You can encrypt data at rest using Azure Storage Service Encryption
(SSE) or client-side encryption. Also, you can control access to data using shared
access signatures (SAS) or Azure Active Directory (AD) authentication.

6. What is Azure Backup

Azure Backup is a cloud-based backup solution provided by Microsoft Azure. It helps
you protect your data and applications by creating backups and storing them in the
Azure cloud.

7. What is VNET peering?

Virtual network peering enables you to seamlessly connect two or more Virtual
Networks in Azure. The virtual networks appear as one for connectivity purposes. The
traffic between virtual machines in peered virtual networks uses the Microsoft
backbone infrastructure.

8. What is Azure DNS

Using a globally distributed name server architecture, Azure DNS allows you to host
and administer your domains.

9. What is an Availability Set?

An availability set is a logical grouping of virtual machines that helps Azure
understand how your application can constructed for redundancy and availability.
When using Azure Premium Storage with a single VM, the Azure SLA applies to
unscheduled maintenance events. To provide a highly available application and to
achieve the 99.95 percent Azure SLA, it is suggested that two or more VMs be
established inside an availability set.

10. What are Fault Domains and Update Domains?

A fault domain, like a rack in an on-premises data centre, is a logical grouping of the
underlying hardware that shares a common power source and network switch. The
Azure platform distributes your VMs among various fault domains as you construct
them inside an availability set. This method reduces the impact of physical hardware
failures, network outages, and power outages.

An update domain is a logical collection of the underlying hardware that can offer
service or reboot at the same time. The Azure platform distributes your VMs among
various update domains as you build VMs inside an availability set. As the Azure
platform undergoes periodic maintenance, this strategy ensures that at least one
instance of your application is always running, but only one update domain restarts at
a time.

11. What is autoscaling Azure?

Azure autoscaling is a cloud computing feature that allows you to automatically scale
your applications or resources in the Azure cloud based on demand. Autoscaling can
be based on specific criteria such as traffic or utilization levels. It can scale up or
down automatically when these situations occur.

12. What is horizontal & vertical scaling in Azure?

Horizontal scaling is flexible in a cloud situation because you can use it to run many
VMs to handle load. In contrast, scaling up and down, or vertical scaling, keeps the
same number of resource instances constant but gives them more capacity in terms of
memory, CPU speed, disk space, and network.

13. Difference between Owner and Contributor role in RBAC

Owner: It has full access to all resources including the right to delegate access to
others.

Contributor: It can create and manage all types of Azure resources but can’t grant
access to others.

14. Difference between IaaS, PaaS, Saas

 IaaS - It provides users with components such as OS, networking capabilities, etc.
This is a paid service, based on usage and can be used to host applications.
 PaaS - It enables developers to build and work with applications without having to
worry about the infrastructure or management of the hosting environment.
 SaaS - It involves applications being consumed and used by organizations. Usually,
organizations pay for their use of the application.

15. Examples for IaaS, PaaS, SaaS

 IaaS - Azure Virtual Machine, Azure VNET
 PaaS - Azure SQL, Azure Storage
 SaaS - Office 365, Salesforce

16. What are the Instance types offered by Azure?

 General Purpose
 Compute Optimized
 Storage Optimized
 Memory Optimized
 GPU Optimized
 High Performance Compute

17. Why Network Security Group (NSG)?

Network security group to filter network traffic to and from Azure resources in an
Azure virtual network. A network security group contains security rules that allow or
deny inbound network traffic to, or outbound network traffic from, several types of
Azure resources. For each rule, you can specify source and destination, port, and
protocol.

18. What are the different load balancing options available in Azure?
 Azure Load balancing – Layer 4
 Application Gateway – Layer 7
 Traffic Manager – DNS
 Azure Front door

19. What are all Azure monitor components?

 Log analytics
 Metrics
 Alerts
20. What are all Azure Storage redundancy methods?
 Local Redundant Storage (LRS)
 Zone Redundant Storage (ZRS)
 Geo Redundant Storage (GRS)
 Geo Zone Redundant Storage (GZRS)
 Geo Redundant Storage Read Access (GRS - RA)
 Geo Zone Redundant Storage Read Access (GZRS - RA)

21. What are all Azure Storage access tiers?

 Hot
 Cool
 Cold
 Archive

22. What is the default soft delete period in Azure Storage?

7 days
23. What is the default retention period in years in Azure backup?

10 years
24. What is the different app service plans available in Azure App services?
 Free
 Shared
 Basic
 Standard
 Premium
 Isolated

25. Is it possible to move a resource from one subscription to another?

YES
