TKM COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING,

KOLLAM-S5
Department of Mechanical Engineering
lnternal Assessment (Series Test-II), Jan- 2023
EST 118 ENGINEERING GRAPHICS
-

Time: 2 hours Class: M1, C1, H1

Maximum Marks: 40
Marks BL* CO*
Part A (Compulsory Question)
A pentagonal pyramid havinga base with a 30 mm side and 70
long axis a mm
is resting on its base in the HP with
an edge of the base ncarer
to the VP parallel
to it. A vertical section
plane inclined at 45" to the VP cuts the pyramid at a
10 3 5
distance of 8 mm from the axis. Draw its sectional front
view, top view and
true shape of the section.

Part B (Answer Any Threc Questions)

2 Draw the projections of a cone
having basc diameter 40mm and 60mm axis,
when it is resting the
on
ground on a point of its base circlc with the ax1s 10 3 2
inclined at 30° to the HP and 45° to he VP,
keeping its apex nearer to VP.
3 A square pyramid of side of base 40 mm and height 70 mm is freely suspended
from a corner of its base that
so a piane containing its axis is inclined at 40 to
10 2
VP, draw its projections.
4 A cube with 45mm iong edges rests on HP with all vertical faces
equally
inclined to the VP. It is by a section plane perpendicular to thc VP so that
cut

the true shape of the section is a regular hexagon. Draw the sectional
top view 10 3
and the true shape of the section. Deternine the inclination
of the section plane
with the HP.
A pentagonal prism of side of base 25 inm and height 6) mm is rcsting on HP

on its base with an edge ofbase parallel to VP. it is cut by an auxiliary inclined

plane (AIP) 40" inclined to HP. perpendicular to VP and bisecting the axis of 10 3

the prism. Draw the development of iaterai surface of the prism.

6 Draw the development of a right crcular coine of base diameter 50 mm and
height 70 mm resting on HP on its base. An inscct moves from a point on the

circumference of its base to the diametrically opposine point on the same base 10
through a shortest path along the curved surface. Mark the shortest path in the

development, front and top vicws of the cone.
