Start with brown yarn

1. Chain 6 stitches
2. Starting from the 2nd stitch from the
hook, 4sc, inc on last stitch (6)
a. We will be working around
the foundation chain, below is
a picture for reference
3. On the other side of the chain, do 6sc
(12)
After doing 10 rounds of 12sc’s, the work
should look like the image above.
On the very last stitch, change the color to
light grey. (it makes the color separation
from brown to grey a lot more seamless)
14. In the backloop only, 12sc (12)
15. 5sc, inc, 6sc (13)
16. 5sc, inc, 7sc (14)
17. 6sc, inc, 7sc (15)
18. 6sc, inc, 8sc (16)
[the red indicated the stitches already 19. 7sc, inc, 8sc (17)
completed from bullet 2, the blue is what we 20. 7sc, dec, 8sc (16)
will be doing in bullet 3] 21. 6sc, dec, 8sc (15)
22. 6sc, dec, 7sc (14)
23. 5sc, dec, 7sc (13)
24. 5sc, dec, 6sc (12)
25. 4sc, dec, 6sc (11)
26. 4sc, dec, 5sc (10)
27. 3sc, dec, 5sc (9)
28. 3sc, dec, 4sc (8)
29. 2sc, dec, 4sc (7)
30. 2dec, 1sc, fasten off

Now there should be 12 stitches total.
