Data Modeling Using Entity-Relationship Model-Entity Types-Entity Sets-Attributes and Keys-
Relationship Types-Relationship Sets-Weak Entity Types, Refining the ER Design Company Database

MODULE 3: RELATIONAL ALGEBRA AND NORMAL FORMS 12Hrs

Relational Database Model – Structure of Relational Model – Keys – Relational Algebra ‐Functional
Dependencies ‐ Normalization – 1NF – 2NF‐3NF‐ BCNF – 4NF – Oracle Database Server.

1. Create Computer Goods table for Purchase and Sales to perform relational algebra
2. Create Bank Customer table with Primary Key and execute 1NF and 2NF

MODULE 4: SQL BASICS AND SUB QUERIES 12Hrs

Introduction – Data Retrieval – SQL Plus – Single Row Functions – Group Function – Set Function –
Sub Query – Joins. Oracle-Introduction – Insert Statement – Update Statement – Delete Statement –
Transaction Control Language – View – Defining Constraints.
Practicum: CO-4, BTL-3
1. Salary table and apply Statistical functions
2. Explore about single row function – Date functions
3. Explore about single row function – String functions

MODULE 5: Queries Concepts 12Hrs

Query Processing, Optimization & Execution – Hashing – Distributed Architecture ‐Concurrency Control
– Backup & Recovery Techniques – Oracle Architecture.

Practicum:
1. Display a hash value using default hash algorithm.

Skill Development Activities: Reflecting on personal thoughts during daily activities for one day and observing/ introspecting on the various
psychological phenomena taught in this course.
Note: This should Cover all the 5 modules and the specific skill the students have developed.
