Intended use The cobas c 311 analyzer is a fully automated system


for clinical chemistry analysis intended for the in-
vitro quantitative/qualitative determination of ana-
lytes in body fluids.

It is mandatory for system operators to read the operator


manual thoroughly before using the analyzer.

User Only trained staff is able to work safely with the co-
bas c 311 system. Therefore, handling the system is
restricted to trained operators.
When working with biohazardous material, be sure to
strictly follow the GLP rules.

Calibration and Quality Control

The system recommends a calibration and/or a


quality control.

You can obtain a printout of the corresponding


load list.

The load list shows all necessary calibrators and


controls including their positions on the sample
disk.

2 Move the sample pipetting arm a little away


from the wash position as shown in the adja-
cent picture.

3 Carefully clean the sample probe with a lint-
free cloth moistened with 70% alcohol.

Rotate the sample probe to the wash position Move the cloth only from top to bottom.

Be very careful and ensure that the cloth


does not get caught at the probe tip since the
probe would bend as a result.

Load reagent Cassette Loading


(cobas c packs)

Loading a single cobas c pack

All reagents come in convenient cassettes, the so-


called cobas c packs, in which they are placed
on the cobas c 311 system.

Before a cobas c pack can be loaded, the instru-


ment must be in Standby mode.

Then, proceed as follows:

1 From the Reagent main menu, select the

on the right!
The Cassette Loading dialog provides exact
instructions for each step to perform

6 To scan the cobas c pack, push the cassette


along the right hand guide rail all the way
against the rear stop without covering the
6 barcode with your fingers.

The cassette data will immediately appear in


the dialog window:

steps 4 to 7 for each pack.

cassette will be registered.

Before a single cobas c pack can be unloaded,


the instrument must be in Standby mode.

Then, proceed as follows:

values of individual parameters change as a result
of target values determined retrospectively,
the corresponding calibrator data need to be
updated.

For this purpose, delete the old calibrator first.

Then, download the new calibrator data to your


system from cobas link.

sure that the new data are properly downloaded.
