Independent Learning

Ther are different styles to learning and teaching some being: Lectures,
Presentation, Discussions, Independent Research, Practical projects

Independent Learning has many factors.

Time management

Being able to organize and discipline yourself in a way that structures the
course of your day into completing tasks on time is a major factor in
studying. You must determine the urgency and importance of your tasks,
as well as the time you would allocate to them, this helps create not only
a study schedule but an efficient one. Soon this schedule of how you
spend your time becomes habit, helping you effectively use your time as
well as motivating you to responsibilities.

Reflecting Critically

This is where to question the information your told, ask related questions
to yourself, looking at the bigger picture

Wide range of learning resources

This is where to employ the use of multiple sources of information,


different textbooks, websites, articles, etc. Not only is it more information
but its different perspectives, reviewing this helps you determine your
own views on a topic rather than just the one opinion of the one text you
read.

Adapting to Learning Processes

As mentioned before there are different ways in which people can be


taught information, is important to be able to adjust to these skills of
teaching and fixing your own way of learning into your independent
studying.

-Referencing and Avoiding plagiarism

-Presentation Skills

-Working in Groups
Time management

Time management is a method of allowing you to complete your goals


with the minimum amount of stress.

Providing or organizing your time to allow tasks to be worked on or


completed.

If you what to do something badly enough you will find time, if not you will
find an excuse.

Time management skills consist of:

-Keeping and up-to-date diary

-Schedule appointments with yourself to create time blocks for work that
is priority

-Plan to spend 50% of your time on activities that produce results

-Set goals before starting tasks, so you can measure your success

-Block out distractions

-Make notes on things you didn’t finish last time (when it was planned) so
that you may work on it the next time you planned to do work

-Review on a weekly basis how well you are using your time

-Identify relevant resources you need prior to starting

Knowing the stages you need to cover

-Simple to do list

-A weekly planner of what you must complete and what you like to
complete or start on top of that.

-Check of completed tasks for a sense of accomplishment

-Have a long-term planner so you know deadlines you are working to

-Only you can do it

-Divide what must be done into time periods

-Identify the time needed for each task

-Identify what was not completed from pervious time frames

-Identify the time you have available

-If not enough time is available, prioritize


-Allocate each task with the date and time that you need to be able to
complete the task

Managing your time= Managing your studies

-leaving things for last minute can be unproductive and stressful

-know what you need to do by when

-combine all your skills

-it takes practice and commitment

-Saves you time, energy and sleepless nights while proving the future
employee you will be

Factors of Influential study

-Poor study environment

-Not understanding tasks

-Not asking for help

-Not reading the assignment questions

-Trying to write an assignment without the background knowledge you


need
