contest.
Participants may wear costume and make use of props if deemed necessary.
Upon submission of the results to the focal person, judges’ decision shall be
considered final and irrevocable.
Announcement of the top 3 winners shall be held right after the contest.
The essay will be graded according to the following criteria:

Difficult
Five (5) words shall be given for each round with corresponding points per
level : Easy Round – 5 pts per word, Average Round – 10 pts per word,

THEME: “Shaping Globally Competent 21st Century Learners through Reading and Communication”

Only Grade 9 and 10 students are allowed to participate in the contest.
All essays should be written in English and shall consist of not less than 200 words.
Moreover, the essay should follow the theme presented.
All contestants will not be writing their own name or any identification marks in their
respective papers. A number shall be provided for each contestant.
Announcement of the Top 3 winners shall be held during the closing program of the
event.

Content and Relevance to the Theme – 40%
Structure and Style – 25 %
Originality – 20 %

The grade levels will be divided into two clusters. Cluster I for Grade 7 and 8, Cluster II for Grade 9
and 10.
Each grade level has their own theme :
Cluster I: MalSci Goes Disney
Cluster II: MalSci Goes Broadway
Each section shall choose a representative to draw lots for their musical piece assignment.
Only one song from the assigned musical may be used for the performance. Remixing or mashup of
songs is not allowed.
Costumes and props can be used provided that the students will use materials already readily
available to them. Buying or renting of costumes/ props is NOT ENCOURAGED.
The performances will be judged using the following criteria:
Characterization and Acting (Appropriate and consistent physical mannerisms, tones of
voice, rhythm that will portray the specific character. Good use of voice and energy levels,
movement, teamwork use of stage space.) – 35 %
Production and Stage Presentation (Quality of the voice, method of performance, efficient
use of space and choreography, relevance of the musical soundtrack. Use of costumes and
props.) – 35 %
Fidelity to Original Work (Originality to the piece, use of language.) – 20 %
Overall Impression and Wow Factor – 15 %
