I.1 EDUCATION
Good evening teacher and everyone, my name is Oanh. Today, I will
introduce about my education program.
What is your major?
Currently I am a freshman at Ho Chi Minh University of Banking. My major is
Banking and Finance. I study at Ton That Dam campus. I am attending a high
quality program.
Why do you like your major?
I chose my major because my dream is to work at big banks, I see that in the
future it will help me have a good income, and this is a popular major in most
universities.
How do you feel about your school?
As for my school, it is very modern and fully – furnish such as hall of residence,
library, stadium and so all…and when we are hungry, we will come to the
canteen where we can buy everything from food to drinks. About teaching
quality, this is one of the best economic training schools in the Southern region.

I.2 HOMETOWN
Where do you come from? What is it famous for?
I come from Ben Tre, which is 105 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh city and one
of the metropolises in Viet Nam. It is famous for coconut trees. You can see
many coconut trees when you come, and in there, the scenery is breathtaking
view and picturesque.
Do you like living in your hometown?
Yes, I really love my hometown for some reasons. Firstly, I like peaceful life,
fresh air and affordable the cost of living there. I feel comfortable and relax
because of the quite and not too noisy in this place. The people are friendly,
kind, and generous. Secondly, my parents are living there and that’s why I want
to live in my hometown where I can be closer to them.

I.3 LEISURE ACTIVITIES

What do you like doing in your free time?
In my free time, I often hang out with my friends. You know, I am an outgoing
person, I love meeting and having relaxing times with my friends at the
weekend. We usually sit at a coffee shop to talk about our daily life, or we
sometimes go shopping to buy some foods and then cook them at one of our
houses.
Why do you like doing it?
I like doing it because those times help me to reduce the pressure from the
works of the entire week. A week for me is so long, but thinking of the free and
good time to do whatever I like on Sunday give me more strength and energy to
finish it.
How much time do you spend doing that?
You know, I have to study from Monday to Saturday so I usually spend a whole
weekend Sunday to hanging out with my friends. Although that amount of time
is not much compared to the time it takes to study for a whole week, it is
enough to make me feel comfortable and relaxed after a tiring week of studying.

I.4 SPORTS
What sports do you like best? Why?
I enjoy playing and watching basketball. It's a dynamic and fast-paced sport
that requires both physical and mental skills. I also love the team aspect of it, as
it promotes close friendship and communication. Also, playing basketball helps
me to stay fit and healthy, which is important for my overall well-being.
Do you prefer indoor or outdoor sports? Why?
I prefer outdoor sports because they allow me to enjoy nature while exercising.
Beside, some of the reasons why include: fresh air, beautiful scenery, fun
activities, and added health benefits. Outdoor sports are a great way to see new
things and enjoy experiences not replicable being indoors. Some sports such as
mountain climbing, golf, sailing, water skiing,… These are all fantastic
activities that can’t be replicated in an indoor environment. That is why I prefer
outdoor sports.
 I.5 MUSIC
Do you like music? Why/Why not?
Yes, of course, I’ve always been a big fan of music since I was a little girl. I’m
really into going to a lot of music festival such as Blackpink which was held in
HaNoi at My Dinh stadium. I like listening to music because it's always been
my motivation. In addition, it gives me more energy to clear my mind. So I love
music because it's fun and interesting.
What is the most popular kind of music in your country?
In my country, nowadays people is exposed to different types of music such as:
pop, ballad, rap, rock, …But ballad music seems to be the most popular in my
country because I’ve never met someone who doesn’t know ballad songs. You
can often hear it on the radio, in shops, and at social gatherings. Ballad music
has a wide appeal and tends to dominate the music charts and mainstream
media.
How is music good or not good for people?
In my opinion, music has a positive impact on our well-being. When I listen to
music, I feel more relaxed and happier. Besides, music is a powerful means of
communication. It helps people connect with each other through sharing
musical interests, attending music events, and even singing together. However,
each person needs to choose the right music at the right time to avoid unwanted
harmful effects
I.6 TV PROGRAMES
How many hours a day do you watch television?
On an average day, I probably spend around one to two hours watching TV. I
usually watch in the evening or before bed as a way to relax and unwind after a
busy day. However, I try to balance my TV time with other activities like
reading, exercising or spending time with family and friends. I find that limiting
my TV time helps me stay productive and engaged in other aspects of life.
Which programmes do you like?
I am a big fan of action fiction and situation comedies. The news keeps me
updated on in what manner human societies, are changing. No other television
program would excite me more than a Hollywood blockbuster, whereas sitcoms
teach me to develop a positive and optimistic(ốp ti mícs tịc) personality by
showing me, how life is seen, from the perspective of a humorous mind.
Do you prefer to watch TV alone or with other people?
I would say both actually. When I watch movies alone, I can fully focus on the
film and enjoy it at my own pace. On the other hand, watching movies with
friends adds a fun and social aspect to the experience. It really depends on my
mood and the type of movie I want to watch.
I.7 FAVOURITE PLACES
Where do you usually go when you have spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time outdoors. I like to go for walks in the
park, go hiking, or play sports like soccer or basketball. I also like to spend time
with my friends and family, so we might go out to eat or have a picnic.
Are there many interesting places where you live for people to go on
weekends?
Yes there are. I live in Ben Tre, a place known as the land of coconuts and
where there are many interesting places to visit on the weekends. Come to this
place, people can go to the Ben Tre Museum to learn about the region’s history
and culture at this museum. Additionally, you can visit local markets, to
immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere and sample fresh produce or street
food.
In what way is café a great place for people to enjoy their free time?
This environment can make people feel more comfortable and relaxed, which
can help us work more efficiently ( ì ví sân ly) and creatively ( rì ấy thiu ly).
Additionally, most coffee shops, play background music and have beautiful
views, which can help reduce distractions and increase concentration ( khấn sân
trấy sân). Another factor that contributes to the appeal of a coffee shop is the
social environment.
I.8 FASHION
Do you try to follow the latest fashion?
No, I don't follow the latest fashion trends because it takes too much time,
money and quickly becomes outdated. However, sometimes I like to update and
incorporate some trends into my personal style.
What kind of clothes do you like to wear?
I prefer wearing casual and comfortable clothes. In the warm climate of
Vietnam, I often go for light fabrics like cotton or linen. T-shirts, jeans, and
sneakers are my go-to choices for daily wear, but I also like to dress up on
special occasions in traditional Ao dai or more formal attire (vốm mô lơ thái ờ).
Which do you prefer, shopping in a small shop or a supermarket?
I prefer going to the supermarket, because it offers a wide variety of products in
one place, with a lot of options diverse( đai vớt) in size, color, and style. It's
convenient to be able to buy groceries, household items, and even some clothes
at the same time. Supermarkets also often have many incentive programs and
discounts compared to small stores.
I.9 PUBLIC TRANSPORT
What is your favorite means of public transportation?
My favorite way to travel is by bus because it’s quick, convenient, reliable and
especially punctual( phấn chồ). What I like most about this type of transport,
that I can completely forget about traffic congestion and reduce pollution. Plus,
the fare is quite reasonable, I mean, quite affordable for a student like me.
What is the most popular means of transportation in your city?
As I mentioned before, buses are probably the most commonly used public
transportation in my city. In addition to helping reduce environmental pollution
and avoid traffic congestion. You can travel the distance without much worries
about ticket price, rainy weather outside or find to parking spaces. Also new
buses now offer better services like comfortable seats for the elderly or good air
conditioning systems.
What are the benefits of using public transport?
Public transportation has many benefits. Firstly, using means of transport like
buses and trains helps us save money such as bus tickets and repair costs.
Furthermore, the cost of buying a personal vehicle is not cheap. Second, using
public transportation is a method to reduce air pollution and traffic jams.
Especially in the city, where the number of vehicles increases, making the roads
always congested during rush hours.
I.10 WORKING STYLE
Are you a night person or a morning person? Why?
I admit that I am a night person because I feel that night is the quietest time to
be able to concentrate on work without being disturbed by anyone. I love the
time at night when no one is awake except me. It's much more private and
comfortable than in the morning.
Would you prefer to work as a part of a team or as an individual? Why?
For me, I prefer working as part of a team. Collaborating (kho ló bơ rây đing)
with others allows me to learn from my colleagues, share ideas, and create
better solutions. Together, we can overcome challenges and achieve more than
we could individually.(ín đi ví chua ly).
What kind of people do you like to work with? Why?
Personally, I enjoy working with friendly and outgoing people. They are fun to
be around, so it makes working more enjoyable. And I think that if a person
enjoys their work, then they work better. Beside, I also like working with people
who have a high sense of responsibility because when assigned a task, they will
always complete it excellently or if something goes wrong, they will always
take responsibility for their mistakes.

2.1 Situation: Your friend is organizing a birthday party this weekend. You
are going to buy a gift for her birthday celebration. There are THREE
options for you to choose:

 A mobile phone
 A pair of shoes
My situation is buying a gift for my friend on her birthday. There are 3 choices
for me to choose: A book, A mobile phone or A pair of shoes. In this situation, I
think I will choose a book because of some reasons. Firstly, it is quite suitable
for my budget (bớt chịt). You know, a book is not so expensive, just about
100.000 or 200.000 VND. Secondly, I think a book can help my friend widen
her knowledge. I know that my friend is really interested in nature, so I will buy
her a book about that topic, so she will really enjoy reading it. I won’t choose a
mobile phone because it is too expensive for me to buy. I also won’t choose
shoes because I do not know my friend shoes’ size. In short, a book is my best
choice in this situation.

2.2 If you won the lottery of 1 million USD, what would you do with the
money? There are THREE options for you to choose:
 Buy a new house
 Start a business
 Save in the bank = deposit
My situation is what to do with 1 million USD winning from the lottery. There
are 3 choices for me to choose: Buy a new house, Start a business or Save in the
bank. In this situation, I think I will choose save in the bank because of some
reasons. Firstly, it’s pretty safe for my money. You know, money sent in a bank
will be under the management of the State Bank of Viet Nam, so it is very safe
to deposit money there. Secondly, saving in the bank is like an( lái ân)
investment. I can earn some interest rate to help me get an extra income from
the initial( in ní xồ) deposit. I won’t choose buy a new house because my
current house is in a good condition. I also won’t choose start a business
because I’m not good at doing business. In short, saving in the bank is my best
choice in this situation.
 2.3 You have just received a sum of money from your father as a birthday
present. How would you use the money? There are THREE options for
you to choose:
 Buy a mobile phone
 Buy a laptop
 Save up for the future
My situation is how to use the money I received from my father as a birthday
present. There are 3 choices for me to choose: Buy a mobile phone, Buy a
laptop or Save up for the future. In this situation, I think I will choose buy a new
mobile phone because of some reasons. Firstly, my phone capacity(khạp pá xi
đi) is full. You know, I am a person, who loves taking photos, and I also often
work on my phone, so the phone I am using doesn’t have enough capacity for
my needs. Secondly, I need a new phone with more features. My phone only
has listening and calling while my friend’s phones have other functions such as:
surfing the web, watching movies,… I won’t choose buy a laptop because I just
received it from my parents when I passed university so it’s still very new. I
also won’t choose save up for the future because at the moment, I don’t need to
buy anything new. In short, buying a mobile phone is my best choice in this
situation.

2.4 Who to spend the next holiday with?

 With family
 With friends
 Go alone
My situation is who to spend the next holiday with. There are 3 choices for me
to choose: With family, With friends or go alone. In this situation, I think I will
choose with family because of some reasons. Firstly, this will create a great
bond between family members. You know, currently, my sister and I are
studying very far away from our home, and we rarely have time with our
parents, so the next holiday is a great time for us to spend time together.
Secondly, I want everyone in my family to have many beautiful memories after
that holiday. I really want to save beautiful images, when my whole family
gathers together, simply like cooking meals or watching TV and chatting,
because that also makes me feel happy. I won’t choose with my friends because
I had a lot of time to have fun with my friends while we were studying. I also
won’t choose go alone because for me, it will a boring holiday and there is
nothing to say about it. In short, With family is my best choice in this situation.

2.5 How to spend the next weekend:

 Relax at home
 Go to friend’s house
 Go to the shopping mall with family
My situation is how to spend the next weekend. There are 3 choices for me to
choose: Relax at home, Go to friend’s house or Go to shopping mall with
family. In this situation, I think I will choose relax at home because of some
reasons. Firstly, I have time to relax and rest after a tiring week of studying.
You know, I have to study continuously from Monday to Saturday, which
makes me feel tired and no longer interested in doing anything. Secondly, I can
spend more time with my family. When I spend time with family, I am
increasing my close relationships with my family members. I won’t choose go
to friend’s house because my friend has a trip with her family next week. I also
won’t choose go to the shopping mall with family because we went shopping
last week, so we didn't need to go anymore. In short, relax at home is my best
choice in this situation.

3. PART 3
3.1 Studying abroad is beneficial for young people.

I totally agree with the opinion that, studying overseas brings a lot of
advantages to young generations, because of some reasons. First of all, when
going abroad to study, the youth have a chance to develop themselves. For
example, they learn how to take care of themselves, and how to manage their
finances better. Secondly, they can experience different styles of education. If
they have to listen to lecturers and take notes carefully when studying in
Vietnam, they have to be more active, make more presentations, and join in
more group work activities when studying in a foreign country. Finally, they
can see the big world outside. They can travel easily to other countries near the
country where they have learnt to explore new things, such as cultures and
lifestyles. To sum up, I agree with this opinion.

3.2 Living in the city has a lot of advantages.

I totally agree with the option that, settling in the urban area brings several
benefits to people, because of some reasons. First of all, city life provides
unmatched convenience. Daily errands become a breeze with readily available
public transportation or ride-sharing services. A large quantity of stores,
restaurants, and entertainment options are all within easy reach, eliminating the
need for long commutes. Secondly, urban areas are hubs of excellent
educational opportunities. Top universities, renowned museums, and specialized
libraries offer unparalleled( ân vé ra lor) access to knowledge and learning. This
fosters intellectual( in theo léc chờ) growth and exposure to diverse( đai vớt)
perspectives. Finally, cities are magnets for job opportunities. They attract a
wide range of businesses and industries, creating a dynamic job market with a
variety of career paths. This allows individuals to pursue( pờ siu) their passions
and find fulfilling( phô víu ling) work that used their skills and talents. To sum
up, I agree with this idea.
3.3 University is the most memorable time in your life.
I totally agree with the statement that, students’ life is the most unforgettable in
my life, because of some reasons. Firstly, this is a great achievement in my life.
You know, that place is training me with knowledge and skills to help me get
closer to my dream job. Secondly, I have trained myself to be independent since
I entered the university environment. I have been quite dependent on my family
since I was in high school from cooking and taking me to school, but since I
went to college, I can do everything by myself. Finally, I have met many new
friends. We met and became close friends right from the first lesson and they
are friends who shared many interesting things about the city with me. To sum
up, I agree with this idea.
3.4 Online shopping has had some disadvantages
I totally agree with the statement that Internet shopping has had some
drawbacks because of some reasons. Firstly, orders may be delivered late
according to schedule. For example, bad weather or poor delivery service leads
to delays, this is making some customers feel uncomfortable because of that.
Secondly, this is lack experience when shopping. Buyers cannot touch or see the
item they have ordered, which results in the quality of the order not being
guaranteed. Finally, customers sometimes encounter situations such as payment
risks. Buyer payment information can be stolen or leaked, leading to fraud or
loss of money. To sum up, I agree with this idea.
3.5 Higher education should be free for everyone.
I totally agree with the statement that higher education should be free for
everyone, because of some reasons. Firstly, this will create equal chance for
everyone. For example, many poor students are not able to join universities,
after completion of their high school, even though they are intested in clearning.
Secondly, studens will have less pressure to study. Studying without thinking
about the cost of studying or other problems will make students feel more
comfortable and focused on, which leads to better academic results. Finally, free
university education will help society in the long term. In addition, this will
make higher education available to a larger segment of the population so will
increase the number of educated individuals. To sum up, I agree with this idea.
