Convert Cluster Testcase
1. Image 3 node and upgrade all the required NCC and CVM in prism.
2. Deploy 3 vm's on each node.
Add extra new disk (cd/dvd drive) while creating the vm- no need to give centos in it..just add it
and keep the settings in default
3. Register vcenter in prism,
4. Go to the vm's page in prism and click on each vm and click manage guest tools and mount
Nutanix guest tools.
5. Go to each VM console and give these commands to install the guest tools:
#mkdir /mnt/abc
#sudo mount /dev/sr0 /mnt/abc
#cd /mnt/abc/installer/linux/
#./install_ngt.py
6. Go to vcenter and click on each host-->configure-->netwrok-->virtual switch-->manage physical
adapters-->delete the nics which have status as down or have 1G as speed. Only 10G NIC's shld
be there and no combination of nic's must be there( 10g+1g).
7. Go to prism and go to convert cluster. Give validate after it completes give convert cluster.
Convert cluster : AHV to ESX Procedure:
8. After cluster is converted to AHV go to VM and open the console in prism.
give cd /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and give ls
give mv ifconfig-ens192 ifconfig-eth0 and give ls
give vi ifcfg-eth0 and change Name and Device to eth0 and give ls
give service network restart and give ip a command to check if the ip is up. (Take ss in prism
page of VM)
9. Update the iso whitelist file to all CVM in the following location
/home/nutanix/foundation/config and restart the foundation service in all the CVM from the
path cd /home/Nutanix/foundation
./bin/foundation service restart
Note: iso whitelist need to be updated only if the ESXi version is newly qualified.
10. In prism validate and convert the cluster to ESXi again.
