ABOUT THE USER’S GUIDE

C-View User’s Guide comprises of the installation and use of C-View. The software is subject to change
and updates, which may not be completely covered in this manual. In cases where this manual and the
software conflict on the features and/or operation methods, the software will take the precedence.

BEFORE YOU CALL


Before you place a support call, you may be able to troubleshoot the problem yourself
by trying these steps.
1) Make sure you are not trying to run the setup on the network.
2) Close all applications and try running the setup again.
3) Turn off your computer and restart it again.
If the problem persists, gather the following information to discuss with your support
representative like -
• The exact wording of any error messages that are displayed.
• What did you do when the problem occurred ?

1. OVERVIEW The service PC, running C-View, is connected to the

2.1 INSTALLING C-VIEW


This section covers the PC requirements, installation
procedures, and a description of the structure that is
created when C-View is installed.
2.2 Installation Requirements

2.2.2 User Requirements

1. Insert the C-View CD into the CD-Drive.
2. Select “Run” from the taskbar Start menu.
3. At the prompt, type D:\Setup.exe (or use the drive
letter of the CD drive) and then select OK.

4. Follow the on-screen prompts, if prompted to


remove any disks before re-booting, remove all disks
except installation CD.
5. At the Information dialog, review all of the text for
important instructions about C-View, before clicking
the Next button.

8. At the select Program folder prompt, accept the


folder (recommended) or type in the desired folder
name.

The registration password will be asked only once


(during the first start up of C-View after installation.

9. Once the installation is complete, click “OK”. This 2.5 Uninstalling C-View

2.4 Obtaining Passcode for C-View


To complete C-View registration process, the correct
passcode must be entered while starting C-View for the
first time after installation. The passcode can be
obtained from CDS&S Electronics Cell.
The code information required to obtain passcode is :
• User Name • Company Name
• Product License No. • Installation ID.
Note : A new “Installation ID” shall be generated every
time the software is installed (even on the same
machine). This will require the user to obtain the user
registration password for each installation.

Directories & Files Installed with C-View


The directories installed with C-View are located under
the Program Files directory.Directories Installed are :
! Bin Folder
This folder contains all the files required for operating
C-View.
! Data folder
! This folder contains the data files. These files
support the tool. This folder also contains the
site configuration files, The user will not need to
view or access any of these files.

! Readme File
When C-View is installed on the PC, a Readme file is
copied to the program folder. This file contains last
minute instructions for using the service tool. The user
can open and review these instructions after the initial
software installation.
2.6 Running C-View
Start C-View by selecting Programs from the Start
menu. Click on CIL Tool Suite and then C-View to
launch C-View application and display the main menu.

3. SITE CONFIGURATION

3.1 What is the need to Configure a Site ?


C-View needs to identify an ECP-G with some unique
identifier, before it can communicate with it. This is
needed in order to support communication with multiple
ECP-Gs simultaneously using a single Computer.

C-View uses ECP-G Serial Number as the unique


identifier to differentiate between multiple ECP-Gs. Sites
can be configured using Tool Setup Utility, which is
installed along with C-View . It allows the user to enter

5.6 Monitoring Parameters


This section describes how to use the Monitor features.

selected parameters from the Monitor Window created

5.9 Setting the Cal Info Drive

1. On the File menu click Cal Info Drive.

2. From the list of available drives, select the drive that


contains the Calibration information. On Clicking
Locate Calibrations the tool will search for valid
calibrations on the selected drive and display
appropriate message. To close the window click OK.
Typically, the drive would be a CD-ROM drive, since
the released calibrations shall be provided on a CD-
ROM.

5.8 Calibrating the Controller


ECP-G is a microprocessor-based controller whose
functionality is achieved by the software residing in it. Selecting the calibration location.
This software commonly called, as the “Calibration” is
stored in a Flash type memory in ECP-G. This memory
allows the user to change the calibration using this
Service Tool (C-View).

The user will need to calibrate the controller to upgrade
