The Between Septimus And Dr. Holmes
From pages 90 100 of Mrs. Dalloway, we see the interaction between Septimus, Dr. Holmes, and
Dr. Bradshaw. Dr. Holmes tries to force Septimus to see that he is not crazy, that there is absolutely
nothing wrong with him, which doesn t help either Rezia or Septimus. Then there is Dr. Bradshaw
who sees that there is something wrong with Septimus, but his only method of helping him is to put
him in a home to rest, away from the rest of society. Both men should be trying to help him, but
they are alienating and isolating him instead, which is not how post traumatic stress disorder should
be treated. It was hard for doctors to help the men suffering from post war mental illnesses because it
was such an unknown and unfamiliar factor. Everyone had their own opinion on how these kinds of
things should be handled, even Virginia Woolf, who, suggests that a balance may be found not in
individual experience of the war, or even in one s memory of it, but in recognizing how best to
accommodate changes that it brought about. (Levenback 113). In other words, she felt the best way
to help a veteran would be to help the person re adjust to society when they return from war.
Right after the encounter with Dr. Bradshaw, the reader meets Lady Bruton, who is a woman of
high society. She has invited Richard Dalloway and Hugh Whitbread over to help her write an
article for the Times newspaper. Her idea was emigrating young people of both sexes born of
respectable parents and setting them up
The Strategy Of Mergers And Acquisition
2.1Strategy of Mergers Acquisition Mergers Acquisitions refers to corporate reorganisations that
transfer an organisation s ownership from one firm, the target, to the other known as the acquirer
(Motis, 2007). The difference between a merger and an acquisition is that the former is a
combination of two companies, whereas acquisition is when one company completely takeover
another (Gupta, 2013. M A can benefit companies in various ways and the main advantage is all the
potential economies of scale that can arise from the deal (Pettinger, 2012). For example, the firm
benefits from cost savings that are associated with marketing and technology. Furthermore, M A
deals provide firms access to a wider customer base and increase their... Show more content on

Also, employees can be made redundant as the acquiring company can shut shown under

Gas Industry Organisations see M A as a fast and efficient way to expand into new markets and
incorporate new technologies (Schuler Jackson, 2001). M A have a high level of success,
nonetheless, failures in an M A deals are also inevitable. According to Schuler Jackson (2001), a
substantial number of financial and market factors can actually be traced to the negligence of
human resource issues and activities. Gupta (2013) mentioned the different motives organisations
have for pursuing a merger and acquisition deal are strategic, financial and organisational motives.
Conversely, Wheeler et al (2014) go to state the trends for an M A deal are based on factors such
as oil prices, capital availability, oil acquisitions, or strong valuation. And with the current oil price,
chief economists at Charles Stanley, Jeremy Batstone Carr, warns that further price falls could really
start hurting the big firms (West, 2016), implicating a negative effect on oil companies. Wheeler et
al (2014) state M A activities declined in the industry during 2013, however, the industry has
continued to see many deals occur afterwards (Ambrose, 2016). Additionally, as

Industrial Organizational Psychology And Social Psychology
Introduction
Prior to jumping right into millennial workers and the fields of recruiting and selection in industries
and organizations and understanding how this relates to Industrial Organizational Psychology, one
may find it helpful to understand what Industrial Organizational Psychology is and what it has to do
with the working world. Landy and Conte (2016) defines Industrial Organizational Psychology as
the scientific study of the workplace or the application of psychological principles, theory, and
research to the work setting. So, in this document we will explore the fields of recruiting and
selection in industries and organizations and examine this in conjunction with the needs and
demands of the millennial workers coming into the workforce. We will also look at any adaptions
that may needed in the recruitment and selection process when working with this new generation of
workers and explain why these changes may be needed. First, let s look at millennial workers and
their role in the working world today.
Who Are Millennial Workers?
Millennial workers are considered the younger workers and according to Landy and Conte (2016)
they are often referred to as Generation Xers or Generation Yers as these are the individuals born
between 1980 and 1995. With millennial workers being of the younger generations, they have a
new working style and may be considered a powerful generation of workers. Millennial workers are
important as the Baby Boomers are now retiring and there
Captains of Industry
American society is constantly evolving and changing, but has been consistently shaped by the
American economy. The American dream of rags to riches drove production and allowed for the
rapid rise of industry under the theory of Social Darwinism. The ideas of vertical integration,
horizontal integration, and monopoly led to the expansion of railroads, the use of kerosene from
refined oil to light homes, and the American domination of the steel industry. These recently
introduced concepts and their repercussions are indebted to the businessmen who sought to
manipulate and dominate the industry. Despite beginnings in poverty, determination and innovation
led Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefellerto become not only captains of industry in their own
time, but also legacies of American success. Though very different in personality, Rockefeller and
Carnegie were raised under similar circumstances and shared similar convictions in regard to
poverty. Growing up in Dunfermline, Scotland, Carnegie experienced the life of the working
poor first hand (Andrew Carnegie PBS). His father was a weaver, and the industrial revolution
that would later correlate directly with Carnegie s success destroyed his father s trade (Andrew
Carnegie PBS). As a result, his mother was forced to open a small grocery shop and mend shoes
on the side to support the family. At age 13, Carnegie taught himself morse code so that he could
work as a messenger in Pittsburgh s city office, a decision that
Public Speaking Strengths
A confident speaker in a reliable speaker. When an individual gives a speech with great
confidence the message that is presented will be more believable. When it comes to public
speaking my main goal is to be confident while giving my speech. I have noticed that my
confidence allows me to exceeded during presentations. There are many public speaking
techniques that I still need to further develop. With the concepts and skills learned in class, and
practice I will be able to excel at public speaking. I would consider myself an advanced public
speaker. I believe that the presentations that I give are well thought out and well delivered. The
content of your speech is just as important as the delivery and I feel as though my content is
advanced and well written. Observing piers in other classes is has come to my attention that I
have an advantage from taking this class. During presentations, my skills outshine others merely
because of the advanced public speaking tactic I have learned. My advanced pubic speaking
skills have improved over the course of the semester. I have sharpened skills that I already had
and have gained new skills. One of my strengths is my confidence during a speech. I do not get
nervous when speaking in front of a group of people. This has helped me tremendously when giving
personations because I am able to be confident and not appear as though I am nervous. Another
strength that I have is that I have a good understanding of what a good volume is. I
The Joy Of Heaven, By G. K. Yancey
The chapter begins with a quote by G. K. Chesterton, and he talks about a saint (Yancey 59). The
quote was peculiar to me. It said that a saint exaggerates, which confused me. I thought a saint
should be humble and not exaggerate. When I think of someone exaggerating, I do not think of it in
a good way. Although, maybe the saint exaggerates to bring awareness to the things people do not
realize or something. I do not think I agree with Yancey when he said, be grateful for your poverty
because I do not know if I would be grateful for my poverty (61). A person who lives in poverty is
faced with many tough situations, such as being homeless or starving. These tough situations can
make the person s life difficult and hard to live, so I do not think I would be grateful for my poverty.

He said, This world is not my home, I m just a passin through (Yancey 64). Sometimes I forget that
my life here on Earth is just temporary. I always think of my life here on Earth as my home. I
cannot imagine a place other than my house in Northeast Philadelphia as my home. To be honest,
I do not want to think about my life on Earth as my temporary home because it scares me. Every
time I think of what happens after my life here on Earth, I get extremely scared. I should be happy
or excited that I might go to Heaven, but I am not. What if I do not go to Heaven or someone I
care about is not there? Anyways, reading that line by Bill Leslie reminded me that I should cherish
my time here and live my life to the fullest because I do not know what awaits me in the
Nonfiction Author
Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing a very popular and
wellknown nonfiction author. He is none other than Mike May. He has written numerous books.
Even Though he did not win any awards, he has educated the minds of millions around the world. A
very popular book by him is known as Sensation and Perception. The book talks about our abilities
to understand the world, by using our five common senses. The braintries to comprehend the world
around us by using our senses to gather information. Many cells in our brain help us live, and they
help us better understand reality. However, as stated in the book, our senses change over time, for
better or for worse.
The author of the book, Mike May, is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I used various libraries around our campus, and once in awhile, I resorted to the internet.
Encyclopedias were a gold mine for this topic. Q What was the most fun part about writing this
book?
A This may sound a little nerdy, but the most fun part about writing the book was doing the
research. As I said before, I wasn t a very active kid and preferred to stay inside reading.
Learning is definitely my favorite thing in the world, and it will remain as that until I take my final
breath. So the most fun and the best part about writing the book was doing the research.
Probably the easiest question of the day. Q Do you plan on writing more books in the future? If so
what type of books will you write?
A It was very fun creating my first book, and I am planning to create more. I will also continue to
write the same genre of books, technical thrillers that is. I am looking forward to making an entire
series of nonfiction books, that teach people about our most complex and substantial organ. As long
as I am still curious, and as long as there are still unsolved mysteries, I will continue to pursue my

Hero As A Hero In Edmond Rostand s Cyrano De Bergerac
In Edmond Rostand s romantic tragedy Cyrano De Bergerac a big nosed French musketeer with
quick wit tends to babble to those willing to listen about the ideal characteristics of a heroic man,
which he claims to denote. Although Cyrano may seem like a hero that upholds the qualities he
mentions through his sacrificial acts he truly only has one intention at heart, self satisfaction.
Cyrano claims to have a large heart. [A] symbol of courage and of courtesy, [which] indicates a
nature kind and keen, witty and warm and liberal Cyrano upholds these standards by doing things
such as interrupting the play in the hall of the hotel burgundy because Montfleury s acting
impedes upon the great art and Cyrano must have [the] theatre cleansed of this great boil for the
good of all the fans. At the Siege of Arras, Cyrano writes to Roxanne twice a day under Christian s
name, risking his own life to walk through the enemy lines at night so he can send the letters.
Cyrano does this so Roxanne can rest easy while Christian fights in the army. Cyrano also
distracts De Guiche while Roxanne and Christian get married even though he truly loves
Roxanne. All of these torturous acts that Cyrano puts himself through for the good of others
excellently portrays his heroism. Cyrano interrupts the play because anyone who truly knows
acting knows that Montfleury was tarnishing the great art and could not be allowed to continue.
After putting an end to the play Cyrano courteously throws a bag of money into the crowd as
reimbursement for the play. But if Cyrano meets the IQ of that which he brags he must know
realistically only about a fourth of the people who pay their hard earned money to see that show
will get it back knowing the people are not going to evenly divide and distribute the money but all
surge for it at once. This already shows how thoughtless Cyrano acts just to prove a point. But
Cyrano s main offense comes when he revealed to Le Bret that he really stops the play because of
[Montfleury] casting fishy eyes upon [Roxanne] whom Cyrano loves. Cyrano costs the majority of
the hard working folks who paid to see a play their money by stopping the play and never returns
their money, and almost ensures Montfleury will never
A Supposedly Fun Thing I Ll Never Do Again Analysis
Can you choose something when you are forcefully and enthusiastically immersed in it at an age
when the resources and information necessary for choosing are not yet yours? (228). In A
Supposedly Fun Thing I ll Never Do Again by David Foster Wallace the audience is taken into the
author s life, from childhood to adulthood. Wallace went on different journeys and he tells the reality
of all of them, both what he expected and what truly happened. He is trying to assure the audience
that even though expectations are meant to tell someone exactly what will happen, do not believe
that and follow your own path in life. The idea that expectations can be so unrealistic it can change a
person until they understand reality and what it means is shown... Show more content on

Wallace uses quotes from many different people throughout the novel, whether he has known them
for a long time or had just met them. These quotes add to the theme of the story because it gives
other characters input besides the authors alone. It proves that others think this way as well and
expect something to be a certain way, when in reality it happens to be the complete opposite.
Wallace expected a Midwesterner, who he was interviewing at a state fair, about what others
thought of what she did, he asked, So this doesn t bother you? As a Midwesterner, you re
unbothered? Or did you just not have an accurate sense of what was going on back there? The
lady simply replied with, So if I noticed or I didn t, why does it have to be my deal? What, because
there s assholes in the world I don t get to ride on The Zipper? I don t ever get to spin? Maybe I
shouldn t ever go to the pool or get all girled up, just out of fear of assholes? (101). After Wallace
asks how this woman feels and what others say she should feel after her embarrassment, and
instead of being terrified she did not seem to care. The woman told Wallace that just because she
should feel a certain way does not mean she will, insisting that she can do whatever she pleases,
even after many people tell her she should not. Following talking to that woman, Wallace
interviewed a gentleman during the same fair. He asked the man, But would they want to? Your kids
I mean. Would they want to hit the Hollow, ride the rides, eat all butter fudge, test various skills,
mingle a little? (110). Most people would expect this man to say yes because that is what a great
deal of people go to the fair for. Instead the man replies, Hail no. We all come for the shows (110).
The majority of people at the fair may stop to visit the
Persuasive Essay On Animal Testing
It is hard to imagine a life without the childhood trips to the zoo, the circus, and other animal based
attractions. It is even harder to imagine a daily life without digging in to a hamburger and washing
it down with a cold glass of milk. It is almost impossible to imagine a life where one does nothing
wrong, but it subject to abuse and torture for selfish purposes of another species. Animal exploitation
is a common yet overlooked practice all around the world. Helpless animals are poked, prodded, and
slaughtered without acknowledgement due to the satisfaction it brings to the humanrace. However, if
it was known what happens behind the scenes of the making of your dinner or the production of
your favorite show at SeaWorld, the lives of tortured animals could change forever.
Domestic breeding is a commonly overlooked method of exploitation. Common in breeding and
pet store chains, domestic breeding is defined by the ASPCA as a large scale commercial dog
breeding operation that places profit over the well being of its dogs who are often severely
neglected and acts without regard to responsible breeding practices. Animals who are bred in mills
are bred solely for profit; they are not appropriately cared for or provided with the proper living
conditions. They live in these conditions for weeks to months before being sold or shipped off to a
store. Often, theses animals are ridden with diseases and disorders due to inbreeding and unsanitary
surroundings. Entertainment is a
Qualitative Research Assignment
The difference between three similar products can be seen much more noticeably when the items
are being presented in front of human eyes. For instance, take a blindfold and put it over the eyes
of any individual, then ask them if the differences of the items stands out as well as they would ve
without the blindfold on. For this project I decided to try to find not only the differences of taste, but
also smell, touch and quality. When purchasing the three different brands of gluten free chocolate
cupcakes consisting of similar ingredients, yet still divergent, this created a challenge being the
brands I looked for mostly did not contain gluten free ingredients. The brands chosen were
Pillsbury (costing around $6), Betty Crocker ($6) and Simple Mills ($8). With no biases being
present, since I do not consume any of the brands on a daily basis, nor do I know much about the
quality of the three products; it made for a fun educational assignment.
First I will start my research summary by elaborating on the three brands and their nutrition facts.
Shown above are the main nutrition facts for each of the products. When taking a look at the
nutrition chart above it is clear to assume that Betty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When baking the different cupcakes it was challenging to keep each cupcake consistent and just as
fresh as the next. To solve this issue I decided to bake four cupcakes of each brand per row consisting
of 12 cupcakes in total. While using the same baking sheets and filling each slot as evenly as
possible I felt the rows to be consistent. After adding the mixture to the remaining rows, I then
placed the single 12 row pan into the center rack of the oven baking all 12 cupcakes at 350 degrees.
Total baking time was set to 20 minutes producing an accommodating time to the different brands
