Personal Notes and Reflection:

The SLAC session on the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning

(ARAL) Program held on July 14, 2025, was a meaningful and eye-opening
experience. Dr. Joy V. Sacluti, Principal II, delivered a powerful message about
the importance of strong leadership and compassion in addressing learning
gaps. She emphasized that academic recovery is not just about catching up,
but about rebuilding students' confidence and motivation. Her insights made
me realize that every learner deserves tailored support and a second chance
to succeed. Her words inspired me to become more intentional and proactive
in supporting students who are falling behind.
Mrs. Eden R. Ongtangco, Master Teacher II, gave practical and insightful
strategies on how to implement the ARAL program effectively in the
classroom. She discussed the importance of differentiated instruction,
formative assessments, and creating a safe learning space for all. Her real-life
examples helped me visualize how accessible learning can be achieved with
effort, creativity, and commitment. I was particularly inspired by her
dedication to reaching even the most challenged learners. Her session
reminded me that true quality education requires not just skill, but also heart
and persistence.
One of the most challenging yet motivating takeaways was the need to
embrace change and take ownership of our role in academic recovery. The
ARAL program is not just a system initiative—it is a personal mission for every
teacher. I realized that I must reflect on my own teaching practices and
commit to continuous improvement to meet students where they are. It is not
easy, but it is necessary if we want to make a real difference in their lives.
Being an educator in today’s time means being flexible, responsive, and
deeply invested in every learner's success.
Overall, the SLAC session gave me a renewed sense of purpose and
direction as an educator. It reminded me that accessible learning is not a
privilege, but a right that we must fight for through thoughtful action and
collaboration. I am committed to using the knowledge and strategies I gained
to provide more meaningful and inclusive learning experiences. With the
guidance of the ARAL program and the inspiration from the speakers, I
believe we can truly create lasting change in our classrooms. This session was
not just a requirement—it was a call to make education better for every child.
