INTRODUCTION

This is a revised version of the 2003 Introduction to management syllabus. Changes were made on the syllabus layout, from a list of
topics to a grid format and addition on the general and specific objectives respectively. On part the part of content it was arranged
according to topics and sub-topics.

RATIONALE

Trainees/ Apprentices work in organizations during their study and after completion either in paid employment or self-employment.
The course therefore, should create awareness, knowledge of what organisations are, how they are managed and the expectations,
roles within the organization.

AIMS
At the end of the course the trainees/ apprentices will:
1) Know the meaning and importance of management
2) Understand the various roles of employees in an organization
3) Have developed an awareness of the skills and qualities required for career progression
4) Understand the links between management principles and entrepreneurial skills
5) Be aware of how organizations operate
6) Have developed the basic skills required of a manager
