able to:

● Describe what computer is.

● Identify the classification of computers.
What is a computer?

A computer is an electronic device that manipulates

information, or data. It has the ability to store, retrieve, and
process data.
Classification
of
Computers
Supercomputer

A supercomputer is a
high-performance computing
system designed to perform
complex calculations at
extremely high speeds, far
beyond the capabilities of typical
desktop or server computers.
They're used for tasks that
require massive computational
power
Mainframe Computers

A mainframe computer is a
powerful, large computer used
by big organizations (like banks,
governments, and airlines) to
store, process, and manage
large amounts of data and
support many users at the
same time.
Mid-range Computers

Mid-range computers are more

powerful than personal
computers, but less powerful
than mainframes.
They are also known as
minicomputers or servers, and
are used by medium-sized
businesses or departments
within larger organizations.
Handheld Computers

Handheld computers are small,

portable computers that you
can hold in your hand and use
on the go.
They are designed for light
tasks, quick access to
information, and easy mobility
Microcomputers

A microcomputer is a small,
general-purpose computer
designed for individual use.
It’s what most people today
call a personal computer
(PC) — like a desktop or
laptop.
Personal
Computer
Desktop Computer

A desktop computer is a
personal computer made
to be used at a desk or
fixed location.
It includes separate parts
like a monitor, keyboard,
mouse, and a system unit.
Laptop Computer

A laptop computer is a
portable personal computer
that you can carry and use
anywhere.
It has everything built into
one unit — screen, keyboard,
touchpad (mouse), battery,
and processor.
Multi-touch

Multi-touch is a technology
that allows a screen (like on
a phone, tablet, or
touchscreen computer) to
recognize and respond to
more than one touch at the
same time.
Nettop

A nettop is a small,
low-cost, and
energy-efficient desktop
computer designed mainly
for basic tasks like internet
browsing, word processing,
and media playback.
Netbook

A netbook is a small,
lightweight, and low-cost
laptop designed for basic
tasks like browsing the
web, checking email, and
using simple applications.
Tablet PC

A Tablet PC is a portable
computer that has a
touchscreen and can be
used without a keyboard or
mouse — though you can
often attach them. It
combines features of a
laptop and a smartphone.
Pocket PC

A Pocket PC is a small
handheld computer that fits
in your pocket and runs a
stripped-down version of
Windows (usually Windows
Mobile). It was popular in
the early 2000s — before
smartphones took over.
Personal Digital Assistant

A Personal Digital Assistant

(PDA) is a handheld device
used to organize personal
information like contacts,
calendars, tasks, and notes.
It was popular before
smartphones, especially in
the 1990s and early 2000s.
Smartphone

A smartphone is a mobile
phone that also works like a
mini computer. It lets you
make calls, send messages,
use the internet, take
photos, play games, and
run apps — all in one
handheld device.
