In this technological era , almost everybody is dependent on mobile
phones, even the school going kids which makes a huge impact on their
academic performance and distracts them from learning and sometimes
leads to severe things like cyber bullying.
This is a universal issue. Kids of all ages are using mobile phones all
around the world. Even my little brother, who is only 4 years old , doesn't
know how to eat by himself cam search YouTube videos by using the mic
option which is a great concern for me . What I feel is that the parent who
is responsible for not controlling their child as a 4 year old doesn't have that
much understanding of his own good or bad . When I was doing one of my
psychology research I came to know that this generation alpha tends to be
more aggressive than the gen-z and millennial . The reason behind is none
other than the phone and the internet , kids watch videos like cocomelon
rhymes that use such types of colors in their videos which makes a huge
impact on kids mind and In terms of psychology it is stated as hypnosis .
Not only him, I also faced issues in studies after studying online for a whole
one year during COVID-19 . that was the time I got my personal phone , it
affected my grades very badly , when things get normal I found it difficult
doing study in person and I used to have a memory of learning anything at
once ut after that I face issued , I was not able to read the textbook with my
whole concentration what I used to think was just about I'll do it at home on
phone . This significantly affected my board exams grades.
The same thing is with different social media platforms which use a special
algorithm just to keep the individual engaged with their app . That's how cell
phones distract an individual from learning which leads to lack of brain
development . There are many side effects of using cell phones in K12
classes . Firstly , It distract the individual from learning and acquiring
knowledge of subjects as if students have their phones with themselves
during them the chances for academic dishonesty increases . secondly it
reduces their focus and diverted it toward the social media world which
makes them feel engaged with the surrounding and can lead to social
isolation . On the third place , they can become the prey of cyberbullying
causing depression, anxiety, sleep disruption and can severely affect their
health . It is the responsibility of teachers as well as parents to take this
issue in concern and find a solution which can be fixing the time of using
phones for kids and banning phones in schools or an alternative can be
submitting phones to class teachers just after entering the classroom .
