DNS TOOLS (1BY20CS104)
DNS LOOKUP:
DNS Lookup is an online tool that will find the IP address and perform a deep DNS lookup of
any URL, providing in-depth details on common record types, like A, MX, NS, SOA, and
TXT.
Directly type or copy and paste a URL (with or without http/https) in the form field above,
click 'Lookup,' and learn the IP address and DNS information for that particular URL.
PING:
ping is a network tool to test whether a particular host is reachable across an IP network.
This network can be IPv4 or IPv6. The standard ping works by sending ICMP packets to the
host and listening for ICMP replies. The advanced ping works over TCP and makes a
connection to port 80 or port 443. You can select the TCP ping function in the advanced
options menu. The tool estimates the round-trip time, detects any packet loss, and prints a
statistical summary. Just type a domain name or an IP address (IPv4 and IPv6) and click the
Go button.
TRACEROUTE:
A traceroute is a network testing term that shows a network connection's real-time path taken by
a packet to reach a network resource. It examines the hops that communication will follow across
the IP network.
Traceroute, also referred to as tracert on Windows operating systems and traceroute on Linux-
based systems, is a utility that uses ICMP packets to record the route from one network resource
to another through the internet. It measures the time taken for each hop as the packet is routed
to the destination. For accuracy, each hop is queried multiple times to better measure the
response of that particular hop.
DNS TRAVERSAL:
Dns Traversal. The domain name system is a distributed database that translates names
into ip addresses. When an update occurs, it is possible to have non syncronized records
across the internet. This tool shows you all the process of name resolving, starting from root
servers.
WHOIS :
WHOIS, pronounced “who is”, is a system that allows users to look up the contact
information of the person or company who registered the domain.
Every year, millions of people register domain names.
