Search Engine
• a program that searches for and identifies items in a database that

especially for finding particular sites on the World Wide Web.
Social Platforms
• A social platform is a web-based technology that enables the
development, deployment and management of social media solutions
and services.
• It provides the ability to create social media websites and services
with complete social media network functionality.

Knowledge-Sharing Platform
• A knowledge-sharing platform (sometimes called an internal wiki or
intranet portal) is a centralized hub for sharing information,
guidelines, policies, instructions, process documentation, and more.
• Information stored in a knowledge-sharing platform is designed to be
easy to find, understand, and engage with
• A centralized knowledge repository where employees can organize
and share company information.

Application Store
• An Application Store is an online portal through which software
programs are made available for procurement and download.
• A digital distribution platform for computer software called
applications, often in a mobile context.
Media Market Places
• Media marketplaces are businesses that monetize attention.
• They connect content producers with audiences. Sometimes revenues
come from advertisers, sometimes audiences pay, sometimes both.
• The first media marketplaces were newspapers that ran ads starting in
1625.
• Examples of Media platforms that enables monetization of content:
• Netflix, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok, Patreon.

Media Platforms
• Media is the main means of mass communication
• A media platform is a service, site, or method that delivers media to
an audience.
• Its functions are to deliver, discussion, or sharing It also enables user
feedback. Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, your local newspaper,
network TV etc., are media platform outlets.
Crowd Sourcing Platform
• A crowdsourcing platform, also known as a crowdfunding site, is an
online location where small businesses and entrepreneurs can collect
funds to finance their projects or businesses.
• For example, Kickstarter, Indiegogo and GoFundMe are popular
crowdfunding sites
Infrastructure Platform
• Infrastructure Platform teams enable organizations to scale delivery by
solving common product and non-functional requirements with resilient
solutions.
• This allows other teams to focus on building their own things and
releasing value for their users.

Digital Formats
• Digital is information that has been scanned, electronically drawn,
layered through the GIS, or digitized by other electronic methods.
• Examples of Digital formats include: MP4, MP3, PDF, PNG, JPEG, GIF
• When managing information in different formats, it is important to
know:

• When to use them
Assignment
Research the digital file formats: MP4, MP3, wav, Ogg, PDF, PNG, JPEG,
GIF and Identify the following :
1. How they work.
2. How they differ from other file formats.
3. When should we use them?
4. Can each file format be imported and exported?
5. Provide information on their Cross Platform Compatibility.
