The Internet
What is Internet?
Is a big network that connect
individual networks all over the
world
With the Internet, it's possible to
access almost any information,
communicate with anyone else in
the world, and do much more.
Internet
You can do all of this by
connecting a computer to the
Internet, which is also called
going online. When someone
says a computer is online, it's just
another way of saying it's
connected to the Internet.
Internet
Web (World Wide Web)
Is a software that
enables you to access
resources/information
that are found in the
internet
Web (World Wide Web)
How does the Internet work?
The Internet may include physical wires such
as copper wires, optic fiber cables or wireless
connections such as Wi-Fi.
When you visit a website, your computer
sends a request over these wires to a Server.
A server is where websites are stored. Once
the request arrives, the server retrieves the
website and sends the correct data back to
your computer in just very few seconds
How to access internet?
To access internet you need to
communicate with Internet Service
Provider (ISP).
ISP is commercial organization
with permanent connection to the
internet that sells temporary
connections to subscribers.
How to access the Web?
Once you have internet
connection you need special
software called Browser to access
the web.
Examples of browsers are Mozilla
Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google
Chrome Safari
Types of Internet Connection
The type of Internet
connection you choose will
largely depend on which
Internet service providers
(ISPs) serve your area.
Here are some common types
of Internet connection.
Types of Internet Connection
Dial-up: This is the slowest type of
Internet connection, and you should
probably avoid it unless it is the only
service available in your area. Dial-up
Internet uses your phone line, so
unless you have multiple phone lines
you will not be able to use your
landline and the Internet at the same
time.
Types of Internet Connection
DSL: Digital Subscriber Line
service uses a broadband
connection, which makes it
much faster than dial-up.
Cable: Cable service connects
to the Internet via cable TV
Types of Internet Connection
Satellite: A satellite connects
to the Internet through
satellites orbiting the Earth.
As a result, it can be used
almost anywhere in the world,
but the connection may be
affected by weather patterns.
Types of Internet Connection
Wireless connection:
This uses technologies
such as Wi-Fi or 3G/4G
which uses no any wire
Search Engines
Is a program that searches
information, especially on the World
Wide Web, for a specified word or
words and provides a list of websites in
which they are found.
There are many different search
engines you can use, but some of the
most popular include Google, Yahoo!,
and Bing.
Search Engines
To perform a search, you'll need
to navigate to a search engine in
your web browser, type one or
more keywords—also known as
search terms—then press Enter
on your keyboard. In this example,
we'll search for recipes.
Search Engines
Search Engines
After you run a search, you'll see
a list of relevant websites that
match your search terms. These
are commonly known as search
results. If you see a site that
looks interesting, you can click a
link to open it.
Refining your Search
We use some special characters to
help refine your search. For example, if
you want to exclude a word from a
search, you can type a hyphen (-) at
the beginning of a word. So if you
wanted to find cookie recipes that
don't include chocolate, you could
search for recipes cookies -
chocolate.

You can also search for exact words
or phrases to narrow down your
results even more. All you need to do
is place quotation marks (" ") around
the desired search terms. For example,
if you search for recipes "sugar
cookies", your search results will only
include recipes for sugar cookies
