WHAT IS INTERNET OF THINGS?
 The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the use of
intelligently connected devices and systems to leverage
data gathered by embedded sensors and actuators in
machines and other physical objects.
 IoT is expected to spread rapidly over the coming years and
this convergence will unleash a new dimension of services.
HISTORY OF IOT
 The term Internet of Things was invented in
1999, initially to promote RFID technology
 The popularity of the term IoT did not accelerate
until 2010/2011 and reached mass market in
early 2014
 The Internet of Things definition: “Sensors and
actuators embedded in physical objects are
linked through wired and wireless networks”
HOW ITS WORKS?
CURRENT STATUS AND SCOPE
 There is a lot of scope for IoT in India and
Government has rightly recognized it and working
towards it
 One of the key initiatives of the Government is to
build smart cities across the country. Major aspects
of a smart city being focused by the Government are:
 Smart parking
 Intelligent transport system
 Tele-care
 Woman Safety
 Smart grids
 Smart urban lighting
FUTURE OF IOT
 As technology is becoming more and more state-of-the-
art day by day, and the access of internet in every corner
of the world is going to be easily obtainable, so the future
of IOT is undoubtedly bright.
 People now want to have complete access to all products
at home when they are on the go or in office.
 For example, people would be able to switch off the
motor or ac running at their home or the lights in
car while sitting at their office. That's the kind of
smartness IOT technology would bring it to the
lifestyle of the people
