ELEMENT OF IoT
WHY BE CONCERN ABOUT IOT
DOES IT ADD ADDITION RISK
2
........A place where machine talk to machine
The internet of things (IoT) is the network of physical devices or other
items, embedded with electronics software, sensors, and network
connectivity that enable these objects to collect and exchange data.
---------Wikipedia
It enable the ability to transfer data over a network without
requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction
using unique identifier.
What is Internet of things(IoT)
3
History
• The term Internet of Things is 16 years old. Back then, the idea was often called
“embedded internet”
• But the actual term “Internet of Things” was coined by Kevin Ashton in 1999.
• Kevin Ashton, co-founder of MIT's establishees MIT’s Auto-ID Center,focused on
RFID
• 1st international conferance of IoT “THE INTERNET OF THINGS:2006” was held at
Zunich at 2006.

ELEMENT OF IoT
• Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
• Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN)
• WSN hardware,
• WSN communication stack,
• WSN Middleware
• Secure Data aggregation
• Addressing schemes
• Data storage and analytics
• Visualization

13
Networking in internet
• Iot Gateway
• Gather data from sensor
• Series of protocols
 CoAp (Constrained Application Protocol )
 MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport)
 HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol)
 XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol)
14
Why it is important ??
• Growth of industry
• Automation
• Smart Control for Smart people
• Preperation to the future
15
Feature
• Open source software
• Open source hardware
• Compact Devices
• Long life-spain
• Easy to use
• Automated
16
Privacy and Risks
• Enabling unauthorized access and misuse of personal information
• Facilitating attacks on other systems
• Involve the direct collection of sensitive personal information, such as
precise geolocation, financial account numbers, or health information
• Collection of personal information, habits, locations, and physical
conditions over time
• Out of coverage Area
17
Application Of IoT
• Personal and home Appliances
 Smart cars
 Smart Vehicles
 Wearable Computing
 Smart Home
 Smart Clothings
18
Environment Moneitoring
• By Monitoring air or water quality, atmospheric or soil condition.
• Monitoring wildlife and their Habbits
• Tsunami Early-warning System also can be used by emergency
services to provide more effective aids.
• It can indicate Pollution level as ppm in air.
• The behaviour of Strom
• Forecasting of natural disasters
19
Healthcare
• Monitoring and tracking of patients and doctors and remote
monitoring of physiological parameters, such as heart rate, level of
substances in blood, care of elderly people.
• Some hospitals have begun implementing "smart beds" that can
detect when Bed are occupied and when a patient is attempting to
get up
20
Infrastructure management
• Monitoring and controlling operations of urban and
rural infrastructure like bridges, railway tracks, on- and offshore-
wind-farms is a key application of the IoT.
• Usage of IoT devices for monitoring and operating infrastructure is
likely to improve incident management and emergency response
coordination, and quality of service, up-times and reduce costs of
operation in all infrastructure related areas
21
Security & Emergencies
22
• Access control to restricted area
• Gathering Radiation Level
• Detection of Explosive or Hazardous gas remotely
Military
23
• Enemy tracking from Smart Camera
• Battlefield surveillance from everywhere
• Health Damage report of army during Battle
Industrial Control
24
• M2M application (Machine auto diagnosis and assest control)
• Indoor Air Quality
• Temprature Monitoring
• Ozone Presense
• Vehicle Auto-diagnosis
Other Application
• Robotics
• Smart Grids
• Smart Traffic Camera
