Virgin River fans will need to wait a little longer for season 7 as Netflix boss delivers disappointing update
Virgin River's highly-anticipated return will take a little longer than expected, according to the latest update from Netflix
Virgin River fans face an extended wait based on the most recent announcement from Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.
During an earnings call with the streaming platform's chief executive, as reported by Show Snob, multiple shows were confirmed to be making their comeback in 2026.
This lineup features the beloved period romance Bridgerton, the celebrity-packed sequel to breakout success Beef, and another wild installment of Guy Ritchie's criminal adventure The Gentlemen.
Yet, despite many viewers hoping for fresh episodes of Virgin River before year's end, it appears they'll remain in suspense for several additional months.
The sixth season concluded with another shocking cliffhanger for Mel Monroe (portrayed by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), as Jack's former flame Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) vanished and one of Mel's patients issued an unexpected request, reports the Mirror.
During the recent discussion, Sarandos revealed: "I wanted to give you a little bit of colour into 2026.
"We're really particularly excited about a few things coming up next year like the returns of some of our biggest and most beloved shows like Bridgerton, Beef, Emily in Paris, One Piece, Outer Banks, Virgin River, The Gentlemen, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Running Point, Ginny and Georgia, Lupin, all coming back for new seasons in 2026."
Since filming for Virgin River's seventh season wrapped up in June this year, the show will likely debut during the opening months of 2026. A December launch remains possible, given that Sarandos mentioned the beloved Lily Collins series Emily in Paris as coming back next year, despite season five being slated for December 18, 2025.
There's also the potential for another surprise holiday special, similar to the two-part episode that thrilled viewers in November 2023.
However, it appears more probable that Virgin River will debut next year since streaming subscribers haven't received any updates until this point.
Netflix's recent announcement follows comments from series star Breckenridge, who also hinted at a 2026 premiere during a chat with Entertainment Weekly.
"There is a lot going on this year for Netflix," she explained. "If I was an intelligent person, guessing, I would say I wouldn't roll Virgin River out until the new year."
She additionally offered fans a tantalizing glimpse of upcoming storylines, revealing: "The storyline with Marley (Rachel Drance) and the baby does not disappear in season seven.
"It's pretty heavily featured... and it's something that me and Jack have to navigate through."
Virgin River is available to stream on Netflix.
