Love Island's Jack Fincham gave cameras a thumbs up as he swerved jail time after appealing his six-week prison sentence over being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog. He was given a three-month suspended sentence added to his already 18-month suspended sentence for a drug-driving offence in March 2024.

Earlier in the morning, he was seen looking solemn as he arrived at court wearing a white t-shirt, black trousers, a cardigan and a brown overcoat. He also carried a shoulder bag and gripped his phone in one hand. The reality star slicked his hair back for the hearing. The Love Island star appeared at the hearing at Basildon Crown Court to appeal his six-week prison sentence for being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog.

His black cane corso dog Elvis bit a runner in Kent in September 2022, and attacked a woman in Essex in June last year. In court in January, the Love Island star admitted two counts of being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog, with one of the incidents causing injury.

Richard Cooper defending said of the six-week prison sentence: "It is a stupid thing as a result of a lack of attention to detail. He should've made enquiries [before taking his dog to the pub unleashed]. These are problems of his own making but there has been remarkable progress by Mr Fincham through his own volition and hard work.

"He struck rock bottom three years ago without work, he found himself indulging in alcohol and drugs regularly. His work dried up. But it is to his credit what he has done to put that right. He has engaged councillors. He has returned to a 9-5 job which doesn't trade on anything but hard work. He has returned to boxing."

Passing the judgment on the appeal, Samantha Leigh said: "We agree that the activation of the suspended sentence was not just. We will replace that with a 3 months extension to your suspended sentence.

"It would not be appropriate to change other sentence that was imposed. Mr Fincham you need to be very careful now. It is never the fault of the dog, it is always the owners fault."

As well as his initial jail term in January, Fincham was ordered to pay £3,680 in total, including a £961 fine, and £200 compensation to the runner, Robert Sudell. Presiding magistrate Anne Wade allowed Fincham to pay the total sum in instalments, starting at £400 per month, after his representative Richard Cooper said his client had "no savings".

Along with his suspended sentence, Fincham has to follow strict rules regarding his dog, Elvis. The dog has be be muzzled in public places, be kept on a lead and not be left alone with anyone under the age of 16.

Fincham rose to fame on the fourth series of Love Island in 2018. The reality TV star won the show with then-girlfriend Dani Dyer, with the two sharing the £50,000 prize money.

The pair went their separate ways six months after leaving the reality TV show and Dani went on to welcome children with Jarrod Bowen while Fincham moved on with Chloe Brockett.
