Fortnite server downtime for today's update 37.51 and when you can jump back in
Fortnite update 37.51 is now live, and will be the final update of the season before the new season begins. Here's everything you need to know about the update.
A fresh Fortnite update has arrived, and despite its main purpose being to roll out the next live event, players are still unable to access the game.
Update: Fortnite is back online again as of 3.16am PDT / 6.16am EDT / 11.16am BST after a downtime of two hours and 16 minutes. Get back in there!
Original story: Fortnite's downtimes have been somewhat erratic of late, but in defence of Epic Games, the title has seen a significant amount of change. The ongoing Fortnitemares 2025 event is quite substantial, unveiling release dates for Fortnitemares skins from various franchises and series that have made the island an eerier place, even without the new kitschy decorations and the introduction of Scooby Snacks and Ghostface's Stalkboxes.
However, a surprise has hit as a new update has arrived which, according to insiders like @ShiinaBR, signals the start of the live event that will conclude the current season. What's coming next appears incredibly thrilling, with rumours suggesting a Simpsons-themed mini-season similar to Galactic Battle is on the horizon, allowing players to explore a cel-shaded Springfield and engage with Kang and Kodos in the event designed to bridge the gap.
This update is now fully underway, leading us to question – is Fortnite down? Here's what you need to know.

The downtime for Fortnite update 37.51 started at 1am PDT / 4am EDT / 9am BST today on Wednesday, October 22, as revealed by a recent tweet from @FortniteStatus.
Although this update is predicted to be a minor one, primarily introducing the necessary files for the upcoming live event, we can expect a downtime of approximately one-and-a-half to two hours, similar to update 37.50 and update 37.40. This will allow players to return to the game at 3am PDT / 6am EDT / 11am BST.
Early Fortnite patch notes
For those eager to know what's in store with each Fortnite update, the Fortnite Community Trello board is your best bet. Here, developers share the fixes they're working on.
The "Fixed in Next Game Update" tab has been somewhat sparse this season, particularly today with only one item listed for Lego Fortnite. However, here's the fix that players can anticipate:
- [Odyssey] Cannot jump after being eliminated while using the Shadow Caller’s Flight ability – Players may be unable to jump after being eliminated while in the Shadow Caller’s Flight ability. Temporary Workaround: On respawn, use the Flight ability again to enter flight and restore jumping, or log back into the game if the issue persists.
As you can see, there isn't much information – but then again, leakers have assured players that apart from the necessary files for the live event, not much else is expected. We'll take what we can get, frankly.
