firstreleasedin2001.Thesoftwareisclient/server,withboth
desktop(java/swing)andwebclientinterfaces.Itprovides
softwaredevelopmentorganizationswithacollaborative
environmentinwhichtheycanmanagetheendtoendprocesses
ofdevelopment,fromrequirementsmanagement,engineering
changemanagement,revisioncontrol,andbuildmanagementto
testmanagementandsoftwaredeploymentaswellasassociated

PTCIntegrityallowssoftwaredevelopmentteamstotrackallaspectsoftheirwork,includingworkitems,source
control,reporting,andbuildmanagement,inasingleproduct.TheproductconsistsoftwocomponentsPTC
SourceandPTCIntegrity.ThesourcecontrolpartofMKSisbasedonclientserverarchitecture.ThickJavaclient
doesn'tstoreanyversioningdataonlocalsystemandanytaskperformedonsourcefilesrequiresnetwork
connection.Thismeansthat,unlikedistributedsystems,thissystemrequiresreliablenetworkconnection,enough
networkbandwidthandenoughprocessingpoweronserverside.Theothercomponent(PTCIntegrity)consistsof
anIssuetrackingsystem,aswellasaRequirementandTestManagementsolution.
OneofthestrengthscomparedtoothersimilarsolutionsisPTCIntegrity'sflexibilityintermsofworkflows,fields,
presentationlayout,validationandautomationcapabilities.PTCIntegrityisbasedonJava,andusesaJavaScript
extensionforthereporting.Anyinteractioncanbeperformedonline,intheCLI(CommandlineInterface)or
utilizingtheserverorclientJavaAPI.
PTCIntegrityisbuiltaroundasinglerepository.Thissinglerepositorysolutionsupportsthethreepillarsof
lifecyclemanagementtraceability,processautomation,andreportingandanalytics[2]andsomecompaniesmay
seeadditionalvalueinthisapproach.[3]
IntegrationofPTCIntegritywithIDEsandotherdevelopmenttoolsislimitedtofewproducts.SupportedIDEs
includeEclipse[4]andVisualStudio.[5]AlsosupportedisIBMi.TherealsoexistssupportforMKSinApache
Maven.
History
PTCIntegritywaspreviouslyknownunderdifferentbrands,includingMKSSource,MKSIntegrityManager,
Implementer(forIBMi)andothers.Thesewereconsolidatedunderasinglebrand,withthereleaseofMKS
Integrity2007inJuly2007,whichwasacquiredbyPTCandfinallyrenamedtoPTCIntegrityin2011.[6]
