Release note – IDAX 5.1 update

1 Introduction
This document describes the status of IDAX 5.1 SW updates.
2 Content
The package includes the following software:
IDAX for Windows, version 5.1
IDAX300/350 calibration software MIX 1.0.338
3 5.0 Features
3.1 HW Compatibility
IDAX 5.1 is not compatible with older firmware versions of IDAX300 units. Upgrade to latest version
is done automatically when connecting to the unit. Follow the procedure exactly to make sure FW
upgrade is performed properly.
If you want to use IDAX 4.1 software with your upgraded IDAX HW, there are two options available:
1) Make sure that IDAX 4.1 is installed first and then IDAX 5.1 (recommended).
2) If IDAX 4.1 is installed after 5.1 then copy file “firmware.bin” from IDAX 5.1 installation
directory to IDAX 4.1 directory.
IDAX 5.1 is compatible with all IDAX300 except serial numbers up to 0800131. However, it is
recommended to make a small HW upgrade of units from 2011 and older, see table below.

As noted in the table IDAX300 units from 2011 and older may be used 5.1 SW without a HW update
but with limitations in functionality and performance when measuring higher frequencies. The
compensation for stray capacitances will be lost because of the different cable connection (single instead
of dual).
Upgrade pricing can be found in the IDAX300 price list.
4 Availability
IDAX 5.1 is available now and is free of charge.
5 System requirements
Minimum Windows XP with service pack 2 is required to run IDAX 5.1. Version 5.1 supports VAX020
but does not support VAX214 and VAX230.
6 Improvements and bug fixes in 5.1
New algorithm based on individual temperature correction for single material (ITC1) is
implemented. Currently it allows for condition assessment of bushings and current transformers.
Added report template supporting bushing measurements using ITC1 algorithm.
Added Resistance graph in DC measurement.
Added Czech language.
Removed software update button as there is no online service possible for posting updates.
Fixed software crash if Cancel button is pressed while connecting to IDAX300.
General fixes in appearance of user interface.
7 Errata
Known issues in IDAX 5.1:
Installation of IDAX 5.1 does not uninstall older versions of IDAX 5.0 automatically. If these
are not needed they can be uninstalled at any time manually. User created files are preserved.
If IDAX 5.1 is not correctly shut down, e.g. computer power out or program crash, IDAX
settings will go back to factory settings
