FOREIGN LITERATURE

Technology is more than an abstract concept associated with advanced tools and systems
used by businesses and end-users for convenience and automation of complex tasks. It also
shapes the way societies and people behave, grow, evolve, and develop, both within their own
lives and in their relationships with others. While technology has developed over the millennia
that humans have existed - from simple tools such as the wheel, irrigation systems and chariots,
to complex tools such as computers, cell phones, the Internet and airplanes - the last century has
seen an explosion in technology that has influenced subtle but crucial changes in how humans
see the world and interact with others. Specifically, the Internet and mobile devices (i.e.
smartphones, tablet computers, mobile gaming systems, etc.) have radically altered the way
people interact with each other, since one of the major impacts of technology is the optimization
of communication systems in the form of telecommunications and networking. While the
Personal Computer and other electronics affected human interaction, they arguably did not have
such critical impacts on human sociology until mobile computers came about. Mobile devices
brought groundbreaking change to human interaction due to the innate nature of always being
connected to the digital world via an easy-to-carry device that one carries around (Wardynski,
2019).

The role of technology has successfully made the communication aspect much easier and
better for us humans. In the past, we had to wait for the message for days and even, in some
cases, for months. And we can drastically see the change which has taken place. Now, all it takes
is a few clicks of our fingers on the smartphones to send out a mail, message to our loved ones or
office colleagues. The user experience and interface have drastically improved with the
upcoming modern age technology (Grant, 2019).

In the modern world, it is as easy as utilizing a Google search, podcast, or YouTube

video to learn virtually any skill that one needs to succeed, whether it be a new language, a
programming language, a technical skill, or an obscure part of history. As opposed to having to
learn from printed paper books, now ebooks and even online seminars allow people to learn in a
faster, more efficient fashion, and with the convenience of mobile computer systems/apps.
Online gateways and websites have also allowed institutions of education to offer educational
materials in an all new, streamlined manner, helping students to master materials using computer
systems that they are familiar with, and also allowing them to consolidate their educational
materials in a single place (Wardynski, 2019).

One aspect of technology that has had a great impact on society is how it affects learning.
It’s made learning more interactive and collaborative, this helps people better engage with the
material that they are learning and have trouble with. Also, it gets you better access to resources.
With the creation of the internet, it gives us access to information at a twenty-four-hour rate and
you have access to almost anything online. In addition, it allows students to get work done
easier. Students can take quizzes and exams more easily, and teachers being able to hold online
classes can be very effective. It also expands the boundaries of the classroom, encouraging self-
paced learning. People can access learning through YouTube and social media. This helps
students learn better than sitting down for lectures and reading from textbooks. These
technologies made learning more fun and convenient (Allen, 2019).

LOCAL LITERATURE

According to the Philippine Star that created an article last 12th of July 2014 about how
technology helps students study well. According to it more and more school use technology such
as computers and the internet in their classroom and several improvements on students have seen
and they are now getting better in education. These improvements are the following:
Independence and information gathering, Critical thinking and reflection, Communication and
collaboration, More engaging learning experience and Preparation for jobs later on. By
connecting the internet, students learn how to do their own research and with the large
information that they access. Students are induced to learn to think critically. Through exchange
of ideas and messages, students are able to collaborate with each other to test their understanding
of lessons. Information today is more engaging to the mind and the senses because of its
multimedia nature. Knowing all of these improvements and advantages. more and more schools
are allowing not just desktop computers and laptops, but also tablet devices and smartphones in
their classrooms.
LOCAL STUDY
Technology plays a major role in creating a new and improved model of teaching and
learning where education happens anytime and anywhere. According to Diwanie Perez (2016) to
achieve this vision we should continue to use technology to revitalize our schools to make them
to dynamic, collaborative and innovative learning institutions where students can become more
motivated, inquisitive and creative learners. Also, to link students with vast networked world of
knowledge and information and develop student’s skills and capabilities to critically and
intelligently seek, absorb, analyze, manage and present information.
