attending an English course is the best option because of the following reasons. Firstly, it is required
for all students to have B1 certificate before graduation at my university. It means that in order to
graduate from university, we need to have B1 level of English. Taking an English course helps me to
better prepare for the test. Secondly, learning English enables me to have better job opportunities.
You know, English is necessary in our modern business world. Knowing English means that you can
 find a job more easily and especially one with higher salary. Regarding the other two options, I know
that many of my friends opt to do voluntary work because it’s a great way to help community and it
offers a chance to make new friends. However, as for me, learning is more important at this time.
Taking up a sport isn’t my choice, either because I go for a walk every day, which helps me to get in
better shape and improve my health. There is no need to learn a new one. In short, learning a
language course is my final decision.

shop, in an open air market or in an online shop. In my opinion, buying clothes in an open air market
is the best choice for the following reasons. Firstly, there is a wide range of clothes in the open air
market as there are many different shops selling various kinds of clothes. Secondly, clothes in the
open air market are normally cheaper than those in a shop. I don’t opt to buy (chọn mua) clothes in a
shop because, you know, each shop has a limited number of clothes. Moreover, it offers only a few
styles, for example, men’s, women’s, kids’. Besides, clothes on sale are rather expensive. Similarly,
buying clothes in an online shop isn’t my interest. I have to admit that more and more people buy
clothes in an online shop nowadays because of the low cost and a wide selection of clothes. However,
I don’t like online shopping especially for clothes because I cannot try on them so it’s difficult to
know whether they fit me or not. Besides, all clothes online look really nice thanks possibly to
photoshop. As a result, they might look really ugly when I bring them home. In short, I would
prefer to buy clothes in an open air market.

xá), renting a flat or staying with the relatives. Which do you think is the best choice?
In my opinion, if I were in the situation, I would opt to live in a university hostel for the following
reasons. Firstly, it is very cheap to stay there. A freshman would have to pay tuition fee (học phí)
and a lot of other cost such as food, books, etc. Living in a university hostel would save him or her a
lot of money. Secondly, I find it very convenient to stay in a hostel because it is often close to
university so he or she can walk to school. Then it does not cost any to buy bus ticket or gas.
Moreover, it is easy to share learning materials or discuss with roommates. Living in a university
hostel, you normally share a room with about a few people from the same university. Therefore,
whenever, there is a question you can easily ask them for advice or discuss to solve the problem. I
don’t choose to rent a flat because it is costly to do so. Regarding staying with the relatives, I think it
is not so comfortable. Moreover, they might live far away from university or we have to do
housework. In short, living in a university hostel is the best option for a first year student.
4. If you won a lottery of 1 billion VND, what would you do: buying a house, buying gold or
saving in the bank? Which do you think is the best choice?
If I won a lottery of 10 billion VND, I would definitely buy a flat because at the moment I have to
pay rent. Well, there is a saying that a rolling stone gather no moss (không an cư thì không lạc
nghiệp). I think it’s true that a stable accommodation would lead to a stable job. I know that with 1
billion VND, I can only afford a flat far from a city centre so I would obtain a loan from the bank or
borrow some money from family and friends. I don’t choose to buy gold because you know, the price
goes up and down and with 1 billion VND, I will be able to buy a lot of gold. Then, I would be
worried about where to keep it. Regarding saving in the bank, I think it isn’t a good idea for me to do
so because right now the interest rate is very low – just about 6% a year. Moreover, money will lose
its value when we keep it in the bank because of inflation. In short, I would opt to buy a house if I
were in the situation.

My younger brother who is a young talented student is deciding on which high school to go to: a
school abroad in Australia, a public school near your home; or a gifted school far from home. In my
opinion, a state school near my home is the best option because of the following reasons.
Firstly, he can still live with my family. Therefore, he can be well taken care of. On the contrary,
attending a school abroad or a gifted school far away from home in Vietnam, he has to live on his
own and can’t see his family often, so he might feel homesick. Besides, living in another country is
often quite challenging for a young person like him. Fors example, he has to learn a new language
which is rather difficult or encountering culture shock. Secondly, as he lives at home, my family
does not have to pay for his rent or other living cost. I have to admit that a school overseas or a gifted
school will offer better courses. As a result, he will have more job opportunities with higher salary.
However, the ultimate goal of studying is to be able to get a good job. This can still be achieved by
going to a public school near my home because it can still provide good knowledge and skills to
prepare him for university entrance exam. In my view, wherever he studies, it is himself who
decides what he can learn, so I think, the public school close to my house is best choice for him.

joining an English at an English center, or talkig to foreigners in public places. In my opinion, taking
an English course is the best choice because of the following reasons. Firstly, a course in an English
center is often well structured with different real life situations. Therefore, I can take part in many
speaking activities and more importantly, these situations are common in our lives. Moreover, a
course is always instructed by an experience teacher who knows which materials are the best for
his/her students. Besides, he or she can correct student’s mistakes if there are any. On the other
hand, nobody checks your work while you participate in a club and it is often so noisy that you hardly
hear what other people are saying. I do not opt to talk to foreigners in public places because you
know, they are normally busy sightseeing and some of them are not willing to speak to us. Even
when they are, you can only spend a few minutes chatting on very limited topics like the weather, job
and so on. In short, taking an English course is the best option for me.

In my opinion, I would opt to wear uniforms two days a week so that I can take advantages of both
wearing uniforms and no uniform at all. Firstly, wearing uniforms benefits students who cannot
afford to buy expensive and fashionable clothes. As all people dress the same way, there will be no
gap between the the poor and the rich so that poor students will feel more confident. Moreover, when
we wear uniform we do not have to think of what to wear or how to combine different clothes before
getting to school. Lastly, uniforms are a form of school unity. They tell other people what school
you belong to. Regarding the advantages of not wearing uniform, well, you still have your own
choice of clothes which reflect your own taste as people often say the way we dress often reveal who
we are. In conclusion, it’s great for students to have a balance between wearing uniforms and
having their own style of clothes.

 As for me, living in the dormitory is an ideal choice because of two main reasons. First, it will be
more convenient and effective for my study. I don’t have to waste time travelling to campus as when
living with my parents or with my friends in a rented house. I can also get accessed to study facilities
such as library or computer labs much more easily. Second, living in the dormitory will help me to
enjoy my student life to the fullest. There are many fun activities on campus which students living at
home or outside the university my find it harder to participate in. I can also build a larger network of
friends because many students live in the dormitory.

Right! If I were her, I would believe that an incredible holiday is the best ideal choice among three
options: laptop, holiday or some money because of the following reasons. Firstly, travel broadens the
mind. She is able to integrate with cultural activities, traditions and local customs of place what she
wants to go. Secondly, not only does she offer many change to travel through an unfamiliar country
or area in order to learn about it but also she can get time to relax. Lastly, a holiday may cost a lot of
money if you fail to plan before you travel. For example: If you book before about 3 or 4 months, you
will get tickets on the cheap. Actually, I don’t choose a laptop because I believe it may distract her
study. For all reasons I put above, I’ll choose a holiday as the best choice for her.

Well, before I have to choose among three options: Talking with his parents, with him or with
shop owner. Let’s talk about all of them. Firstly, I reliably ignore option talking with shop assistant.
They don’t want to lose their custom thus I believe that they won’t care about it. Moreover, they can
be annoying and claim that I obstruct their work. Secondly, if I talk to him, maybe he speaks one way
and acts another. It easy for him to change Internet shop and he is able to continue to play more and
more. Therefore, the best ideal choice is talking with his parents. They will have several ways to
manage their son such as cutting his pocket money, putting him under control... Besides, he spends a
huge time with his parents so they have a much stronger impact than everybody include himself. For
all reasons I put above, I’ll choose talking to his parents as the best choice for me.
11. Your friend who is a teacher complains that many her students do not do homework. She is

ignore option asking them to give some money. Relating punishment with money is inappropriate to
students. Moreover, they will reckon that money makes the mare go. Thus it has adverse effects to
them. Secondly, although requiring them to keep at the classroom corner is the better way but it is
wasted their time and hers. My friends said that there were many her student didn’t finish homework
so it is hard to reduce them to silence. In my opinion, the best punishment is asking them to rewrite
the task 10 times. Students have to finish their homework which they don’t do it before. Besides,
rewriting several times makes easier to absorb knowledge. For all reasons I put above, I’ll choose
requiring students to rewrite the task 10 times as the best choice for her.

Well, before I have to choose among three options: Taking no photos, taking with formal clothes, or
with informal clothes. Let’s talk about all of them. Firstly, I reliably ignore option taking no photos at
 all. Graduation is a significant anniversary at the end of school’s life. It's a pity if my friend’s class
doesn’t do something to keep the memorable moments. Secondly, whereas formal clothes relevant to
the atmosphere of ceremony, the formal clothes make individual to become unique. In my opinion,
formal clothes are the best choice. Not only be a photograph with the same kind of costume will
awesome, but also it shows the solidarity of collective. For all reasons I put above, I’ll choose taking
photos with formal clothes as the best choice for them.

Well, before I have to choose among three options: Talking with his parents, with his friends or with
his teacher. Let’s talk about all of them. Firstly I reliably ignore option reporting his situation to his
parents. They can make a storm in a teacup. Harmful behaviors can be happened to defend their son.
Maybe he will learn what they live. It has adverse effects to him. In my opinion, talking with his
teacher is the best choice for me. It is easy to his teacher to find out about the incident. Since she
compasses their students than anyone, the solution will be solved. Maybe some people consider that
talking with his friends are better but the case is able to out of control. For all reasons I put above, I’ll
choose talking with his teacher as the best choice for me.

Well, if I have to make decision among three options above, I would choose going shopping for a
Sunday evening with my friends. There are several reasons for my choice. First of all, you know, I as
well as majority of girls have a big fan of shopping. It is likely for girls to spend much time and
money on collecting some favorite items such as handbags, shoes, clothes… It is so exciting to go to
a supermarket and buy some favorite things at weekend. Even when I don’t have much money, just
window- shopping is so interesting. Moreover, going shopping is a good way for me to relax myself.
When I go shopping and see a lot of colorfully decorated items, all my stress seems to disappear.
Wow, walking around a supermarket and listening to some pieces of sweet and gentle music is so
wonderful, right. About seeing a movie, personally I think it’ s a good idea. However, it is difficult to
find a suitable film for all of us because my friends and I have little interest in films in common. For
example, I’m interested in romantic films but my friends want to see horrible ones. So we cannot see
a film together. I don’t choose singing karaoke because I’m not good at singing. It will be not
interesting if there is a person who cannot enjoy the whole atmosphere of the group. To sum up, from
my point of view, going shopping is the most ideal choice for me and my friends in a Sunday
evening.

Well, I’m a big fan of traveling. If I have to choose when to go to London, I would choose
summer. There are several explanation for this option. First of all, I have a long holiday in summer,
therefore, I can spend much time on traveling. My summer vacation lasts about 3 months, so I can
have 1 month on holiday. It will be great chance for me to discover the beauty and special attraction
sites in London. I will also taste some traditional food here. Moreover, summer is an ideal time for
tourism. I’ll go to some beaches and enjoy the fresh air there. I’m also interested in swimming. It will
be wonderful to go swimming in early morning or late afternoon. Another interesting idea is to walk
on the sand along the beach and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere at night. It is so cool and fresh in
summer in London in the evening. In spring, I think its’ a little bit humid and wet in London.
Therefore, if I travel to London in spring, I cannot visit famous attractions if it rains. In addition, I
have to attend my class at that time. I don’t choose winter because it is much cold in London in this
season. I can badly suffer from cold weather. It is maybe snowy in London. At that time, I just want
 to sleep in and enjoy my favorite food. In conclusion, summer is the most suitable time for me to
have a trip in London.

My friend’s, Lan’s, birthday party is coming soon and I’m considering an interesting gift for her. I
think that a book is the best choice. Lan is good at literature, so I believe that she has a great passion
about books. She and I have an interest in reading books in common. When we have free time, we
regularly go to a book store or library to collect some favorite books. I will give her a novel as a
birthday present. I strongly believe that reading books is a good habit. It is beneficial for her to read
some pages and relax herself after hardworking hours. After about 30 minutes of reading, all tresses
seem to disappear. Moreover, reading books can provide her with more creative ideas in literature or
writing essays. A clothing item such as jeans, a shirt of a pair of shoes is also a good idea, however I
find it hard to give her a suitable one. I don’t know exactly what size fits her. In addition, it is
expensive for me to buy an item like that. I don’t choose a pair of tickets because we have different
interests in films. She is excited about romantic films with sensitive feelings. However, I have a favor
of adventurous films. In a nut shell, a book is the most ideal gift for my friend’ birthday.

Well, if I have to decide a gift for my friend, I would choose a self-designed photo album. There
are some reasons leading to this option. In the first place, I’m keen on handmade items. I often make
some cards or flowers by myself in my free time. I think that it is a nice hobby. I strongly believe that
my friend will be amazed and excited about my self-designed photo album. It will be a special
present before her studying abroad. With this photo album, she can keep a lot of photos which we
took together. It is helpful for her to remind several unforgettable memories that we shared together.
Moreover, I personally think that she can keep some photo of her family in this photo album to
reduce her homesick. I know that studying abroad and living far away, she will miss her family a lot.
Therefore, with some photos, it is useful for her to ease her homesick and get more encouragement to
study better. I don’t choose a book because I think that it is not suitable for her. She is a open-
minded and talkative girl, therefore, she seldom selects a book and sit in a quiet place. In addition, I
believe that if I give her a book, she probably read it once. She has many things to discover in a
strange country. A silk scarf is also a good idea, however, it is a little bit expensive to me.
Furthermore, it is summer now, thus I think that it is not suitable to give her a silk scarf as a gift. In
conclusion, from my point of view, a self- designed photo album is the most
ideal present for my friend.

receptionist and a tourism agent, I think that a tourism agent would be the mosy ideal job.
There are 3 main reasons why I am for a tourism agent. In the first place, this kind of job brings me a
lot of chances to communicate with foreigners who come from different countries. That helps me
improve my communication skill which is neccessary for my future job . Also I can make more
friends and broaden my relationship network. Secondly, the more I travel, the more knowledge I gain
of beautiful landscapes in Vietnam as well as other parts of the world. As a result, I have a deeper
understanding of languages, cultures and customs of these areas.
Last but not least, Actually, I don’t choose a telephone operator since I will not have a chance to
communicate directly with customers. And being a hotel receptionist may require to follow a lot of
rules which make me uncomfortable. For all reasons I put above, I’ll choose a tourism agent as the
best ideal job for me.

friends brings a lot of benefits. For example: we can share the rent, do homework together. Actually I
don’t choose to stay in the university dormitory because I will have to share a room with a lot of
people and it doesn’t have enough house facilities which makes everything inconvenient. Staying at
home and travel 50 kilometers a day is not a good choice, either. It takes a lot of time to go to school
which
makes me tired and can’t focus on learning any subject after that. For all reasons I put above, I’ll
choose to stay in a rented house with friends as the most suitable choice for me.
20. If I have to choose among 3 options: a collection of essays, a class of photo book or a class
video, I think that a class video is the best choice. There are 2 main reasons why I am in favor of a
class video. Firstly, a class video records real emotions and voices which is amazing and
unforgettable. Secondly, it can be stored as a soft copy so we don’t have to worry about being
lost or damaged. Actually I don’t support for a collection of essays because it’s boring. Some people
may have so much on their mind but don’t know how to put it in words and some people don’t have
enough patience to read everything. Moreover, a class of photo book sounds great but it can’t be real
as a class video. For all the reasons I put above, I’ll choose a class video as the best ideal choice
for me.

party, a beauty contest in class or a karaoke night, I suppose that a class party would be the
best ideal choice. There are 2 main reasons why I support for a class party. Firstly, it’s simple to
organization. We don’t have to think about the place where the party will be held since we can use
the classroom after study. Secondly, we just need to prepare some snacks and drinks which is cheap
for students. Actually I don’t choose a beauty contest because it takes a lot of time and I don’t think a
lot of girls want to participate in that contest. A karaoke night is not a good choice since not everyone
can go out late and the price for singing karaoke on Woman’s Day is costly. For all the reasons I put
above, I’ll choose a class party as the best activity to celebrate the Woman’s Day in class.
22. If I have to suggest for my friend among 3 options for a part – time job: a shop assistant, a
home tutor, a baby sitter, I think a shop assistant is the best choice. There are 3 main reasons
why I support for a shop assistant. In the first place, this work gives her have some soft skills which
is needed for her future job. Secondly, being a shop assistant brings her a lot of chance to
communicate with several kinds of people. Finally, it helps her more active and flexible since she is
quite shy. Actually, I am not for a baby sitter because it’s kind of boring and she hates children.
About a home tutor, although this work has good salary and she doesn’t have to spend a lot a time per
day, it doesn’t provide skills that needed for her field of work. For all the reasons I put above, I’ll
choose a shop assistant as the best ideal part– time job for her.
