What is Descriptive Text?

Definition:
 Descriptive text is like a special kind of writing that helps us imagine things by
using lots of describing words.

 It's like painting a picture with words to make readers feel like they are right
there.

Key Features:
 Sensory Words: Descriptive texts use words that help us imagine how things
look, sound, feel, taste, or smell.

 Lots of Details: They give us a ton of information about what we're reading
about, so it feels real.

 Making Us Feel Something: These writings try to make us feel emotions or react
to what's happening.

Examples:
 Describing a Beach: "Imagine warm sand, gentle waves, and tall palm trees – it's
like being in a calm and beautiful beach paradise."

 Talking about a Scary House: "Picture creaky floors, spooky whispers, and dim
lights – it's like stepping into a haunted house adventure."

Why Do We Write Descriptively?

 For Fun: It's exciting to read and write because it feels like we're going on an
adventure.

 To Add Details: We use descriptive text to make stories more interesting by

adding lots of details.

 To Imagine Things: Reading descriptive texts helps our imagination create cool
pictures in our minds.

How Descriptive Texts are Structured:

 Start with a Hello: Begin by introducing what we're going to describe.

 Tell the Story: Use lots of details in the middle to paint a clear picture.

 Say Goodbye: Finish by summarizing the important parts and leaving a lasting
impression.
Tips for Writing Descriptively:
 Use Fun Words: Choose words that make reading exciting.
